What effect will this have on other cumakers and cueowners...since alot of people have them not made by sledgehammer and alot of cuemakers make their jump break cues this way...

Varney Cues said:Honestly...this is more true than you realize. Your brain is a very powerful tool...once fed the correct info on how pool is suppose to be really played...it will make adjustments in your game. Plus you should pick up little things like...not rushing, walk into your shot, preshot routine, staying down after hitting the cueball, etc. I know every time I go play/watch a big tourney...my game turns it up a notch. If all your brain ever sees is league action...7 or 9 speed is going to be the limit...if you're talented. But when feeding your brain world class pool...you'll see the difference. When horrible people play & and I have to be present....I try not to watch. Buy some Pat Fleming Accustat tapes and watch those everynight as you drift off to sleep...do this for a month, or longer....you'll be absolutely AMAZED at how much your brain will pick up...and you'll play much, much better!![]()

I haven't had much patent experience but having spoken with patent attorneys when looking into trying to patent things with past business partners, and I understand that you can't patent something purely because the application is different -- it's got to show some sort of new technology involved. And I don't even see how Gulyassy's patent makes any sense in that regard (and as a sidenote, is it just me or was that patent written by a 4th grader?)

I think Brunswick and Rambow, may have beat you to it.hanshewcustom-q said:..........presently my lawyer and i are in the process of getting a patent on the irish linen wrap.........
Eddie Prewitt's 747 jumper?Snap9 said:From various sources. Gullasy(sp) was not the originator of the break tip that is used on the sledgehammers. The original design came from another cue maker in which it was than (call it like you want to) stolen, copied, made his own. Now this is second hand word of mouth from more than one cue maker. And believe it or not all the stories were very similiar. Hummmmmmm? Now I am not trying to bash or bad mouth Gullasy, but it truly does make you wonder. His Sledgehammers do break well and perform flawlessly at their task, but the patent thing is just rediculous.
Now cues have been around much longer than Gullasy has been alive. Cues started out being nothing but wood to hit the ball. Than transformed to having a ferrule added to stop the wood from splitting. Than to add traction a leather tip was added. Now somewhere around the late 70's early 80" Strickland was one of the first to start jumping balls in competition. Was his tip modified to do this than? Possibly. Now with some of this information you can see that all of his so called patent is in question. Now has he invented something new? My answer is no. Is the leather inserted phenolic ferrule something that he invented? Once again no. Now is he ingenious for getting a patent? Yes. Would the patent hold up in court? NO!!!

As I understand it, if you lose in court, you will have to pay his legal fees yourself. So go for it guys. It is your cazz you are puttting on the line.
The man has a lot on his mind right now, with losing his dad, familey problems and what not. You ever corner a racoon. Do yourself a favor, don't try it! I honestly hope everything works out for everybody!!!!
