What happened to the carom aiming thread?

I simply can't believe someone would start acting like a jackass in an aiming thread.

Wasnt that type of aiming thread.... there was absolutely zero arguing going on. I have a feeling it was because the op used the word nazi in the title. But why wasnt that just edited out instead of the thread being deleted? It was good content on several contributors parts.

I understand. I read it too. There were some contentious words to start the thread and during (as well as some good content) and it doesn't take long for those to get elevated. Hopefully it was just the nazi thing tho. I'd like to think people could handle aiming conversation without resorting to name-calling, etc

That was the thread I started. I can't believe how offended people got over the word Nazi. Some people actually sent me personal messages saying how terrible of a person I am. How do these overly sensitive people get through 1 day of their life???

if you cant understand why someone would be offended by you using the word nazi
maybe you need sensitivity training yourself
starting with a conversation with a survivor of a concentration camp

If there were no backstory I'd agree with you. But as there's now a whole sub-forum for this, because by many people couldn't behave themselves, I didn't believe that was his intent (don't know him nor his intent.). So when I first read it, I didn't find it offensive and thought he was just trying to have a little fun poking at the aiming folks.

Tell that to Jerry Seinfeld who made famous.... "Soup Nazi". Jerry is Jewish isnt he?

Its a word, and in this case it was said jokingly. Not as an insult or any type of racial or religious anything.

Well, you were being a jerk about it and got called out.

Don't claim people are easily offended when your whole point was to deride others in calling them Nazis.

Hooray, your effort to offend succeeded!

I have to agree. Just look at "The Producers" first done as a movie by Mel Brooks back in the 60's and then on Broadway in 2005. *Huge* hit. "Springtime for Hitler" offend anyone?

It was in jest but some are far too sensitive.

Jerry Seinfeld has exhibited his insensitivity on more than one occasion. Believe it or not, - not all Jews have identical views and values.

Using the word "Nazi" as an offhand joke is a direct insult to the Jews, blacks, Gypsies and others who suffered the horrors of Nazi Germany.

And now, we must suffer also
