What happened to the Moori thread?

Such a shame, it was a good thread and we never really got to the bottom of the problem.
- why are there som many Moori fakes?
- How can consumers tell if the buy the right thing?
- Is there a official US distributor?

Atlas deals directly with Moori.
If that is true, Mr. Barringer have something to answer for. He flat out claims the Atlas Mooris are fake.

That might be Joe, I'm just confused by the whole thing and I cant seem to find objective information..
The more you stay on here the more confused you will become. If you read my report on the whole matter, you have all the info you will ever need regarding Moori and leave it at that. There will always be those who don't believe anything I say and that's their right. The proof is in what we wrote regarding the fake incarnations and backed up with photos and Government filings.
I went on the Alibaba place many months ago and bought a pack of 10 "Moori" tips that I was almost sure were the fakes to compare to the real Moori tips I had been getting from Japan for many years.
First of all the tips did not look the same. The layer lines were much more pronounced than the real Moori tips. Second the little hologram sticker was clear even when you use the decoder Moori provided us with when looking at the fakes. The real Moori tips look clear under one decoder window and are all gold and sparkly under the other window. You can also see the genuine, authentic and secure wording with a magnifying glass on the real ones.
Moori started out just putting a single letter on his tips signifying the hardness and packaged them in a simple tin can. Then people started selling other tips with a letter on them as Moori tips. So he started putting his name on them. Then those were copied. Then he went to seal packs to protect his product from counterfeits. We also need to understand that Moori has changed the seal packaging and the sticker some since they started using the sealed packs. The stickers used to look really gold and the sparkles used to show up more without using the window decoder. Now they do not show up in full blown sparkly gold color until you use the decoder. They used to put the sticker on the top tip side of the package and now they put it on the flat side. The packaging used to have black writing and then they went to the green writing with the small wording. The seal packs with black writing had the really gold looking sticker on the top tip side. In my opinion the tips with the black writing on the packages were the best of the Moori III. That was before they started dropping the layers of leather.
I am also told that in Japan they still call the standard Moori tips Moori 3 even though Moori dropped the Moori III from the writing on the tips and just went with Moori. Many call them Moori 4 here and they have a layer or more less of leather than they did when they still said Moori III on the tip.
I have seen people call Old stock Moori tips fakes that had the packaging different from what is currently coming from Japan. One major supplier was telling everyone that the tips with the Black writing on the packages were fakes a few years ago. I figured out that the guy telling everyone they were fakes had went to work for the company after Moori had changed to the green writing. He knew he had real Moori tips and assumed all that did not look like his were fakes. Then when he could no longer purchase any Moori tips he started calling all current Moori tips fakes. I believe he made an honest mistake, but it pretty much started a war of words with another supplier.
My opinion on the picture I saw in the other thread was that those tips were real Moori tips. If the picture had been taken with the decoder over the hologram I think it would have sparkled gold.

Here are some pics for all to ponder of GENUINE Moori Tips. Notice that you can see a partial of the word "AUTHENTIC' in the second photo. There are three words in the GENUINE holograms: GENUINE, AUTHENTIC AND SECURE. What a pain in the rump to get a shot with the wording showing!

A lot of it is just from memory and that is why I am not providing dates. Years and months just run together after almost three decades of being in this business. But I also still have some original Moori tips with the letter and I still have some Moori III in the first style seal packs and a few of the in between tips also. I also bought some fakes to get an education on what was being passed off for Moori tips.

I bought a couple of these and put one on a 314-2 shaft yesterday. It plays great, just like the Moori 3 on my Mezz I got from Seyberts.
