what holds the shaft?

i was wondering what holds the shaft in place while it's in the lathe to change the tip or ferruel? thanks

Delrin/nylon or Teflon collet to fit the spindle of the lathe and the id is just enough to fit the shaft near the joint area.

I use small rectangles of polyurethane with magnets imbedded in the back. These go on the jaws of the chuck to hold the shaft.
