What brand, and what sizes should I get to supply for friends, and family that come over to play. I have a 9' table.

How often do you really think they will get used? I got some (used, with the table) dufferins and cheap chinese 2pc ones for my houseand I doubt they have been used twice.

But the nicest 1pc cues I have seen are the diamond branded ones. dufferins are nice, but the diamonds were far better.

We live in a small rural town with about 140 people. We have plenty of family, and friends that will come over often. Don't think any have cues. If they do then that isn't an issue.

How many, and what variation of sizes should one get?

I would get two reasonably good cues rather than buying four cheap cues.

My first choice would be Player's. IMHO they're the most bang for the buck. If I was visiting a friend and given a Player's to play with, I wouldn't feel like I'm at an immediate disadvantage. One with wrap and one wrapless.

You might also get a shorty in case a kid wants to play...and you trust him/her around the table.

Plan on getting to know them all when you have a pool table. The best line you will hear is,

" You can go to bed we will shut everything off and lock up when we leave."

If it were me....Schmelke one piece cues are hard to beat. Nice wood selection for butt, good splice work, and large diameter shaft. Then when you love how one in particular hits and plays, you can have it cut in half, pinned up, maybe change the ferule and tip, and have yourself a great sneaky. Just my .02 cents. Matt D.

I would get Cuetec one piece cues in 18, 19, and 20 oz. They are laminated, are good cues, and shouldn't warp. Also a shorty cue.

I have a set of 4 Cuetecs (18 to 21 oz) plus an extra 19 oz, plus the shorty. I also have a 19 oz wood cue.

Bank Shot in Louisville Ky has one piece Cuetecs for house cues, and I got to say they put decent tips on them and they play great.

Yeah, I'm sure they will love the open bar, and everything else that will be there. LOL.

By sizes I'm guessing you mean weight or are you talking about height or tip size?

Brand does not matter too much since they will all be of decent quality.
I'd get 19 and 20 oz ones and probably get one or two short cues (52") for kids to use.

weight, and length. I have a uncle that is about 6'4", and my wife is all of 4'12":). I doubt they all will want the same size stick. Just wondering what others have for outsiders?

I would buy 4 or 5 McDermott Lucky or McDermott Star cues as house cues.
Maybe some of the Player cues, but not the 2-piece Players cues that come with furniture type pool tables.
Also check out some of the lower priced J&J sneaky petes.

I would start with standard length cues as many tall casual players use them. Get a longer cue later if you need it.

Exactly that a good "house cue." Nice one piece house cues with varying weights and good tips! Nothing beats the feel of good house cue. Line them up on the rack and they can grab any one and enjoy it. Forget the cheap inlaid looking cues with bad tips and sticky shafts, your walls will thank you. Stay traditional! That's my oppinion.

I have 5 Player's house sticks. I think they're all 13m..1-18oz, 2-19oz,1-20oz, and 1-21oz.
