What is a Davis Blank

Can someone please tell me what exactly a John Davis blank is? Is it just the forearm? Are the points on the forearm already or does the cuemaker who finishes the cue add the points? What do they cost? Inquiring minds want to know.
 
Hal, he also does the more 'traditional' full splice blanks as well...the full wood handle into an maple or exotic nose...however, those are more rare.

Correct me if I'm wrong, I believe what John Davis does is called double splice, which offers great feel as a full splice, but also comes with capabilities of adjusting weight better, since different woods with different densities can be used.

Full/double splice is my favorite construction technique.
 
Hal, Here are 4 cues made from John Davis blanks. The cues with wraps are double spliced, and the bottom cue is a true full splice. There is no perceivable difference in playability between the two full spliced construction techniques that I can feel. They all offer a hit with sweet resonance and great feeling.

John provides a full spliced forearm with points attached to a handle. He then gives you a square of material to use as a butt sleeve. Ball park pricing is $350.

Wish I had a shop with as much equipment as he has . . .

I think the blanks went up in price and John is not crazy about making them to sell. John has said he prefers to make cues. I have 9 blanks, all recent, and I am very pleased with the construction. Over the summer 4 or 5 will become good playing cues with classic decor.
