What is a good 3-player game?

Every Wednesday before league I have some guys over to warm up and do a little gambling. We usually play a golf game that I have, we set it up as match play, $5 for the front, $10 for the back and $5 for the overall, the most you can lose is $20 to each man.

One of the players seems to pay out very regularily so I am looking to find a new 3-player game we can try. We usually have about an hour and 45 minutes to practice before league so the game would need to be finished in that amount of time. Also I would like something where no one sits out for any prolonged time, I can't stand watching two people play for 30 minutes on my table while I sit on the couch. ;)

I used to play in a cribbage game once in a while. This was years ago, but we used to play until all the pairs of 15 were off the table and then you could make the 15. Each pair would be worth 5 or 10 bucks and at the end of the game you squared up. My rules could be off, but that is how I remember it. It was a lot of fun!

We have tried cut throat a few times. We stopped playing because whoever gets to break always seems to win.

The cribbage game sounds interesting, any idea where I could find the rules?

Sorry for the sarcasm, I've always wanted to use that and I haven't finished my coffee yet.

9-ball or 10-ball. Those are good for up to four players. You could money on the 5ball and 9ball or 5ball and 10ball, or just on the last ball.

I played a game called poker pool a couple of times too. You are going to have to look the rules to that one up though. It was ok but cribbage was more fun. A lot of combos, caroms, banks, holding your man, etc.

Or Chicago. Its Alternate break rotation with money on the 5-8-10-15-points-amount of balls made (6 ways). double for a runout from break. U can play 4-way partners and the people that make the 1 and 5 are partners, if same person makes them it goes to the next ball. Ball in hand behind the line on scratches.

Ring game 15 Ball (Rotation) money on the 5, 10, and 15, or small money on the 3, 6, 9, 12, and 15.

Thanks guys. I will try someof these ring type games and see how they work out. I just want to be able to keep everyone in the game and I don't want anyone to lose their shirt.

I used to play pill pool too. It was alot of fun and a good social game. We would use some variations too. Also, if you can land a keno board that can be fun as well. A guy made one in a room that I used to play in and stronger and weaker players would all get in because of the luck factor. Good for social action.

Pea pool but all 15 balls if you have players of decent skills...

The randomness of the draw should keep any one player from getting paid each time...

If the same player IS getting paid each night you my have underestimated differences in speed....
