What is currently is the best city/area to live in for pool?

I tend to think, either Phx. AZ, or Las Vegas, NEV. would be the ideal places for a really active pool player to settle down!

For six months of the year I would agree with you. The other six months I can literally watch my skin dry up as the moisture is sucked out by the 110 degree heat and 0% humidity. Humans were not built to withstand these temperatures.

Yes, the other 6 months we could live in Santa Barbara..Great weather, but your stroke will dry up from lack of action! :boring2: :boring2:

PS..Of course, you can always drive down the 101, to LA..(but humans were not built, to being tortured to death in traffic) :D

action pool halls and crime are usually hand in hand
when there was big action in dallas it was fueled by pimps, theifs and dopers

i felt no sympathy taking their money
in fact i convinced myself i was doing a public service

at the cotton palace organized crime added to the flavor

pool is kinda seedy,on the action side

I have no idea as to the current best city to play today. But I did notice Houston was mentioned. In the 70's & early 80's action was everywhere I went. Michigan, Wisconsin, Denver, Omaha (where I lived), Nashville, Dallas, St. Louis, KC, San Diego, LA, & every dirty watering hole in all the one horse towns on between.

Back then Houston was known as the City of World Beaters. You could go onto any number of places & run into some schmo who could fall off his barstool & run 5 racks on you & action was everywhere...

Times are much different now, & I've been out of the loop for a very long time. So I will have to defer to y'all on this one...

I cant really say that Florida is a good place to be. We have no more tour. The Indians are hosting a large tourney in Hollywood FLA end of the month though for $$100K (The Tornado Open). No tour pretty much means there is no objective for the players around here. I'm approaching "A" level myself and will hopefully be a shortstop with some kind of get out skills in a couple more years. It'd be nice if I actually had a goal to shoot for other than the US Amateur Championships.

Like... mebbe a Florida One Pocket Tour. Yeah that's the ticket.
