What is it that you enjoy the most in the game of pool?

I forget the other things I have going on in life and don't worry about anything except that stupid cluster I have to get a ball out of or making shape for the next shot.

It's my best escape.

The thing I enjoy most about pool is when I am at the table nothing else matters. I am almost certain that the roof could blow off while I am shooting and I wouldn't even notice until later. When I am shooting there is nothing else besides my cue, the felt, the balls, and 6 pockets.

You said it first. So I'll just say, ditto.

1. The challenge
2. The physical "feel" of playing the game
3. The "rush" of making a great shot
4. The physics and geometry of the game
5. The "downer" of missing a shot a I should have made (there's no "rush" if there's no "downer")
6. The fun of playing with people I like.
7. It beats working

Groupies. I keep trying to get better because I keep telling myself that one day all the hot chicks are going to think is hot and if I am the best player in the poolroom, at that time, then I will be the man. I keep waiting though, and getting older, so I hope it happens soon.

It's challenging, meditative, and in the moment.

I think meditative and in the moment sums it up. Pleasure in small motions. If you have a good stroke, then you know what I mean when I say it is a dance. If you know karate, then you know that playing quality pool feels like a well executed kata or technique. If you have ever played Bach inventions on the piano, then you understand that the mind goes to the same place when you are in the zone. Have you ever played lights out and then not been able to remember much about it because it was so natural and easy to do? Being in the zone is what makes pool fun! And that can be addictive! Of course consistency is why pool can be frustrating.

For me it's rare admittedly, but those times when you are in dead stroke - just a beautiful experience. You have perfect clarity & focus, you feel like you are gliding around the table, with a smooth as silk stroke, effortlessly pocketing balls and getting perfect position. there is no other experience like it. And rare as it is, you live for those moments.

I could make money at it. Life is one big hustle and everybody has one. If there is fine print it is a hustle. Johnnyt

Stopping Cue ball

Trying and stopping cue ball on exact spot as intended for position. Perfection in CB control.
