predator........was about 175

I had a sneaky pete from muellers about 15 years ago, it was 79 bucks, it played great, in fact i think they still sell them, but they may be a little more expensive.

A Biaggio sneaky I had, weighed maybe 17 ounces, and man I could get out like a god on a bar table with that big ole cue ball.

Shorty

A used Meucci Sneaky Pete. You can typically find them for around $100 from someone moving up. For a lot of people this is the first "Good Playing" cue they buy. In my area it seems to be an up-and-comer and hustler favorite. And a new one is @$200 (Out of your given price range but maybe worth saving for.)

Two Scruggs sneakys for $120 (each?) ? Josey with 314 for $120 ? Darn. Why don't I ever get myself into these situations... I would love to buy a Bender for $200, DPK/Kersenbrock for $220 and a Southwest for $250 :D

I think you are just too young, that's all :)

So speaking of sneakys, I have a Dufferin Phantom that I take out to bars on occassion (mostly the occassion is my brother-in-law is in town :) ). Now the stupid bar that we play at has these black fibre-glass cues. My sneaky pete sticks out like a sore thumb

I'll vote for the low end McDermott. I have an older Brunswick (by McDermott) that would retail in the $120 range, it's a good cue.

I don't know what the lowest end Lucasi is now, but a few years ago you could pick one up for that. Damn Lucasi's are a really decent cue.

Duh. I sometimes mistake myself for a well-seasoned and experienced player... at the tender age of 27 :D

Scruggs sneaky's in the 90's where I lived sold for 150 new, and weren't regarded as anything overly special. We used them for break cues mostly. Up until about 4 years ago you could still get all you wanted for 150 used, and 200 new in a plain one. I brought one of the last ones to leave the scruggs shop for 200 + 10 bucks shipping. I didn't know until after I sold it they had stopped making them, or I'd still have it. My plan at the time was to just buy another new one.

I have seen lots of Joss cues sell for less than $150 on ebay(new&used)... Joss cues have a good solid hit...

Under $120 is Dufferin, Action, Cuetec, Players, Schmelke, GW.

I know a few people who play with Dufferins. I like Players.
