what is this

I have seen some butt caps for Schon out of delrin with markings like that on the inside to keep the caps from twisting.

Ah ok.
They did not thread it. They had the weight bolt hold onto it.
Bad idea.

I don't know the composition, but the fact that these are Mali parts may help someone identify the material.

are you sure about them being mali as i can only find ss joints on mali s and i have these in black & cream,
paul..

Well let's see the white stuff is definitly lighter color than the darker stuff. Definitly injected molded stuff. Of the MILLIONS of plastics, did you really think that this could be identified by a dark & grainy picture?...JER

I have some leftover from the closed Mali factory.
Lots of plastics. Softer than Delrin.
Got lucky on some woods. Had a long piece of b'eyes that's AAAA grade. Mislabeled as handle.
Most woods were too crappy for me to use even as handles.

Two things I am sure of is that those parts appear to be the exact same ones that Mali used. I have a couple in my hand as we speak for comparison. In addition to that, Mali made a limited amount of "implex" joints as well as the SS ones.

Just a side note in talking about Mali, Most are referring to the older Mali's that were made here in the States not the current ones being made over seas.

I can tell you without a doubt that your better off throwing those away and buy good stuff from Atlas or others. I have used some of these from an ebay seller and they suck. Most have air pockets that only show up when you start to machine them. I thought they would be cheap and useable, but it cost me alot in time, as having to remove and re-do with better materials. If you look at the end of the cream colored one, you can clearly see the air pocket from a bad mold injection. No wonder Mali closed:D I bored out the rest and now use them as spacers when I clamp a butt cap on during glueing.

thanks dave, i have not yet used any of these butt caps and just 1 cream joint collar on a jump cue,you have saved me a lot of aggro now, perhaps the bin is the right place for these
