Does anyone know what the thread is on this joint screw in a Cuetec cue.

The model # is CT263 and has an SST shaft.

It looks like a 14 tpi but is larger than a 5/16 and smaller than a 7/16.

The threads measure about .359.

Thanks

Same here....it's a 3/8x14 that he has ground to fit the cutec. Works great.

OK, I'm confused (imagine that huh). Some are saying it is a 9mm-14 which doesn't exist, some say it is a regular 3/8-14, and some are saying it is a 3/8-14 that has a special regrind to it.

Will a normal, regular 3/8-14 tap work or does it have a special re-grind to fit the cuetec pin/threads ??

I replaced a cuetec pin a couple of months ago but just pulled the old pin (which I saved and still have since it wasn't bent) and installed a 5/16-14 pin per my team captains request so he could use his Joss shafts on the cuetec too so I didn't run into a scenerio where I had to have the tap so I didn't think much about the thread size. Looks like I need to "aquire" the correct tap.

If you have the old pin then just grind 3 or 4 slots on the pin and make a tap out of it. I have several pins that I made taps out of this way.

If you're gonna offer brilliant solutions like this every time you post, then we"ll start expecting this all the time from you, lol.

Thanks Alex, that never even dawned on me that I could do that. :embarrassed2:

Also thanks to Redneck Jim for posting the link above, post #4 in that link, made by Chris says the same exact thing about making your own tap from an old existing pin and KJ clarifies the exact size in post# 16.

So is the difference the minor or the major of the threads? I will confess that i have made a couple shafts or inserts for Cuetec cues and ran with the info i found on google.

I purchased a 3/8-14 tap many years ago to cut threads for predators. Although the tap worked it made a very sloppy, loose fit for the shaft. Far from being correct. If KJ regrinds a tap that fits correctly then this certainly should be used for quality work. By the way, there are very many different specialty size threads and bolts that are made and in use. They just aren't made for commercial sales.
