What jump cue

I had a stinger JB for a while. For that price range it is quite good. I later moved up to the BK2 and a MezzPB2 which are a lot more $$

If you get the mcDerm J/B definitely buy the "optional jump handle" they sell for it. It is pretty cheap 20$? and it really helps on jumping.

Mcdermott Stinger

I did get the jumping handle for it. Very nice break cue too. Sounds like a cannon! Now if I can only learn to use it!!

I liked the free video that Jacoby has on their sight showing their product but how to get different spins and where to hit the ball.

ob lift pro. i love mine, and everyone i've let try it has said it will be their next jump cue. can't count the number of times that thing has kept me in a match. it seems like it takes less effort and gives more control than any jump cue i've messed around with. in comparison to the predator, i like that the lift still actually feels like a cue and not a piece of plastic or something. just personal preference there, though.

in the end, your best bet is always going to be trying to find someone with each of the ones you're thinking about and trying to get them to let you hit a few jumps with each one. everyone has their preferences.

My top 3 higher-end would probably be:

Alex Brick
Tony Layne
Steve Lomax

Top 2 production:

OB Lift
Mezz

I'm slightly on the tall side (6'2") and I really like having the extension on a jump cue.

Why have one? It's a waste of money and case space. Learn the angles and kick at it or use your player.:clapping:

Steve Lomax FTW

I purchased a brand new Steve Lomax 3-piece jump cue at SBE, so I wanted to update this post. As good as the Jacoby is, it pales in comparison to the Lomax. My first jump was over a ball a diamond away to a ball another diamond farther away, a fairly typical jump shot. With almost no effort, I jumped completely over both balls and straight into the far corner pocket. It's like the cue ball just flies off this cue.

I spent the next 30 minutes practicing jumps - dart, overhand, short, and long, they all were effortless. At one point I turned to my wife and said this was almost like cheating. In my first competitive match with it, my first two shots at the table were full table length jump shots, and I made both of them. This is simply the best jump cue I've ever seen, and the build quality is as good as it gets. I also recently bought a Samsara J/B with the optional jump handle, but truth be told I haven't even bothered to try the jump configurations out because the Lomax is so good.

I have 2 jump breaks (a J&J and a Pure-X). The J&J is fine for what it is, a cheap/entry-level J/B. The Pure-X is a four-piece configuration, so you can have break, long jump, and short jump. It breaks and jumps very well and is a great all around J/B. I also tried a friend's Fury J/B that jumped like crazy.

I have 3 dedicated jump cues: a G-5 Launcher, a Black Magic, and a 3-piece Jacoby. I would not waste any time on the first two, but the Jacoby is AMAZING and I highly recommend it.
