What kind of cue does Steve Davis use?

While watching one of the Mosconi cup wrap ups on AZBilliardsTV, it seemed to me that Steve Davis was not using a conventional pool cue. It looked like a cue with an ash shaft and was snooker cue sized.

Perhaps I didn't see quite clearly what he was using.

Does anyone know what kind of cue he uses?

Also, is he related to Mike Davis? Someone told me he is...

I don't believe he is directly related to Steve Davis. From what you are saying about Davis's cue it obviously sounds like a snooker cue, and maybe what he is accustom to. I play with a Snooker cue and the pros I have played against laugh outloud at me when I get it out. 9mm tip, ash with a hand spliced ebony butt. I have to imagine that Steve had a snooker cues tip modified. Did you notice the butt? was it wrapped?

I have never meet Steve Davis, but as Mike's Dad I think I would know if they are related. So, I would give that a qualified NO, there are not related.

Your son is a good guy. I practiced with him for a short time and chatted on and off during the World Summit in Vegas last year. You must be proud of him.

he is using a john parris cue, modified for pool. the tip is bigger, something like 11 or 11.5mm. and the ferrule is not brass, it is a brown ferrule, probably phenolic

Plastic ferrule, 10mm tip and as others here have said is made/modified by John Parris in London (some years ago actually).

Give him a call if you want one made. He's a really nice guy.

Thanks for the responses.

I have to say he sure did play well in the video I saw.

Cheers!
