3/8x10 means 3/8 inch diameter (wide) and 10 threads per inch. You need to show a ruler next to the pin.

It certainly appears to be a 3/8-10, but I wouldn't go by that.

Patrick is right. You need to count the threads over a certain distance. 5 threads in a 1/2" means 10 threads per inch.

Okay I measured it.. It seems that it is a 3/8x10 My ruler is in CM but i converted it to inch and half inch has 5 threads and it is 3/8 inch wide
It only has 9 threads though? but maybe that doesnt matter?

The total number of threads doesn't matter. The size is calculated by threads per inch. Difficult to tell from pics if it is 10 or 11. If you counted 5 in a half inch then it is probably a 3/8x10.

If someone put a gun to my head and made me guess, my guess would be a 3/8 x 10 thread.

Could be 3/8 x 10 or 3/8 by 11. Also in 3/8 there is a thread that measures a full 3/8 (.375 od) and one that measures less, usually about .365 od.

You need to know which you have. The larger pin will not thread into a smaller cut shaft.

Maybe a note to Vhante Cues is in order? Is he still making cues or did he stop years ago?

A previous seller (or two) of one of his (Steve Urate?) listed it as a 3/8th-10 also.

I agree with Jodacus. Your situation could even be a bit more complicated than that. I have a Schick cue that is supposed to be 5/16x14. The Schick pin fits any corresponding shaft, but the Schick shafts do not fit any other 5/16x14 pin I've tried. The problem is either with the major diameter, the minor diameter, or the flank angle. Your thread looks a little bit odd to me (wide flank angle, no root). I would make sure you can return a shaft if it doesn't fit. Or try a shaft from OB/Predator/Mezz/et al. from some friends first. You'll know immediately if your pin fits these commercial shafts.

Good luck,

Damn.. :/ Where I live(Spain) it seems that I am the only one with this kind of pin.. at least I don't know anyone who has a 3/8x10 pin nobody has "wood to wood joint" either .. I tried contacting Steve Urate but no reply yet, yes he still makes cues but he changed his nickname, he calls himself "dcuekid" now.

I wish there wasnt 1000 different pins on the market.. would make things easier.

The major diameter is not what determines how threads mate to each other. This is controlled by "pitch diameter".

Steve historically used 3/8x10 pins, they did however vary in outside diameter at times by 10/1000 of an inch. This did create a tight and uncomfortable fit for aftermarket shafts if you happen to receive a cue with the larger diameter. Steve and I made many cues together, I sent him various materials including pins in the production of my cues.
If you have an email for him I would appreciate it if you would would PM me wth it, I have not been able to make contact with him for a few years.

Okay, it is a 3/8x10! Steve replied and said so, also a friend of mine had a 314-2 shaft 3/8x10 and i tried it on my cue and it works perfect! :) So i just ordered an OB classic pro :) *Happy*

Feltmaster, i will pm you now.
