What nap roller do you use for glue?

I've only done a couple of tables using the glue method that Diamond Billiards uses. Currently I'm trying the 4" thin smooth foam roller. Seems to deteriorate pretty quick doing the process. Doesn't really give me a smooth even coverage.

What nap roller do you mechanics use, that have been doing this method for a while?

I like the 1/4 inch nap x 3 inch rollers. Just keep your roller moving with light pressure on the cloth and lift the roller off the cloth before stopping.

Or if you do a lot of tables, just buy the 9" rollers and cut them into thirds. I use the 3/16" nap.

contact cement rollers covers

I did some production plastic laminate work years ago [pray for my liver]. I'll offer my opinion. It sounds like you're using solvent based contact cement. I's a good idea to wear a respirator> 3M makes a nice one with a comfortable face piece and head bonnet. It has filters for many different uses.... I think it's the 6000 series. Forget the foam covers, as you've found out the solvent will eat them up in a hurry.
There are covers designed specifically for contact cement. They have a pebble like surface and are made with solvent resistance in mind.... much more robust and suited to the task. They lay out the cement pretty well.
I believe it's the best way to go, if you're doing production work.
You're probably not going to find them at the home despot.
If you're doing one offs, a quality short nap will do the trick. Use once and throw away... they don't hold up well in this application. You really don't want the nap coming off the cover as the cement gets more tacky.
In desperation, I've had to use a regular paint cover too long.. The nap literally unrolls off the core and sits on the applied contact cement.... it's pretty ugly.
