What sets the market price for a cue?

Thanks to all for your inputs. I'm only struggling with these Dufferin conversions for $3,000. I can believe they hit very well. But for me I would rather invest another few thousand dollars and get a brand new and complete Searing cue.

I get the marketing 101 supply / demand stuff. Mr. Searing only builds a few cues a year and the waiting list is like 10 years out for his wonderful works of art and precision instruments of play. I'm not sure I understand how he makes a decent living based on how many cues he builds per year.

I hope I haven't upset the apple cart with the cult following comment, I was really kidding after hearing "supply / demand" for the 10th time.

I want everyone to understand I would be a buyer if the right basic Searing 4 pointer comes along.

Where do you plan on getting a brand new Searing for a few thousand more than this conversion?

As far as Dennis making a decent living - what does that have to do with the market value of his cues?

I've had conversations with Dennis and HE doesn't understand why his old conversions go for so much. But it is definitely not in his hands.

Pointwise response below.

1.) I've seen them on here for $4,000 to $5,000. So based on my math $3,000 for a conversion + $2,000 additional equals $5,000.

2.) It has nothing to do with anything other than simply what I said. If he only makes (10) cues a year I find it hard how he makes a decent living in this economy. Further, his business is privately held so it's really none of my business. Just an observation.

Anything else?

Cheers
