What shoes for pool?

Merrell is another good shoe. I've had a pair for about 8 years now and still
wear them!

I can vouch for Merrell as well. Merrell for shoes and Keen for sandals are the only casual shoes I've worn for the last ten years.

Shoes

I have played a lot in flip flops, especially in the summer or at home.
Reef makes some of the best.

Recently, I have been playing in a pair of Vans. Old school skater style, great for league night.

I have noticed that I do not like any lift to my playing shoe (high heel). So, any boot style like my Red wings are out of the question.

My friend wears New Balance 2040 and loves them. The NB 2040's look conservative enough for me to wear, although I have to confess, I would wear pink shoes if it helped my pool game.

I just wonder how the New Balance 2040's compare to the very high end Nike shoes.

I may spring for one pair but I can't justify buying one pair of each. :shakehead:

I like Ecco Biom Grip series. Look like dress tennis shoes, but the soles actually grip to the floor.Great for stretch shots.

The only ones ive found that dont hurt my feet after 6 hours of continuous play are CROCS. I love them and wouldnt wear anything else. I tried my New Balance 993's with the NB insole and they didnt do the trick. The rooms I play in are all carpeted.

The New Balance 2040 cost over $250 for a pair. I shopped around a couple of days ago and bought a pair online for $145, still a bit pricey but I had to try them out, especially after my orthopedic guy confirmed what my friend said about them being the best.

He also suggested that I NOT try Nike Air/Gel shoes, saying that they don't have as much support as other high end New Balance shoes. :yikes: He was wearing New Balance shoes btw, but wasn't going to spend 250 on a pair of shoes. He said the higher numbers are generally the better shoes.

I think it's all about being comfortable

I work in the restaurant business and am already on my feet for hours on end before going to play pool. Being that I grew up in boots, that's what I wear to work and that's what I wear to pool. Right now work is a pair of Justin non-slip work boots (not steel toe) and pool is a $200 pair of Ariat square toes. Never had a problem with my feet hurting after any amount of time in a decent pair of casual boots. But, I grew up in boots. Put me in any type of sneakers and I'm hurting after about half an hour. Played tennis in high school and still play every now and then, but I hate putting on tennis shoes. Never have given me the same feeling as a good pair of boots.

For the record, I was a decent tennis player. Never used cheap equipment or cheap shoes. Tennis is too damned expensive though. $150 for shoes every month because I wore out the front part of the sole on my right shoe (I dragged my toe on my serve). Plus $40 every week to string my racquets (per racquet btw, at 3 of them). Pool is much more relaxing, and I can drink while shooting? Win win.

I have three pairs of Steve Madden's that I wear often. They are very comfortable, but any longer than 3-4 hours and I wish I had my Nike's. The most comfortable pair of shoes I've ever owned, were a pair of Nike ID Shox high top basketball shoes and I put in Dr. Scholls gel inserts.

The best and comfortable sneaker/stylish shoe.
