Both many years ago: I was at my local watering hole and saw somebody slam a ball straight into a side pocket of a bar table. It came out of the side pocket on the other side of the table and ended up on the playing surface. The bar rule there was play it as it lays, the ball wasn't pocketed!
A couple days later I was in a small money game on the same table I saw the ball pop out the opposite pocket of so when opportunity knocked I was shooting at the money ball and while the cue ball was a natural scratch in the side it was easy to avert the scratch. Instead I fired the shot ninety miles an hour! The cue ball hit the pocket, ran along the ways under the table and popped out the other side pocket to sit on the slate. I knew the guy would be hot, one reason I did it. I knew him slightly and the shot had been mostly a prank. Still made him pay up though!
I was playing a youngster named Johnny Archer many moons ago too. He made the eight ball money ball three times on the break after calling the coin flip. Called the pocket each time too. Fourth break him came within an inch with the ball slow rolling towards the side. I won that game and broke and ran a few more then decided to let him swing a stick but I tied him up with no shot. He wagged his stick over the table a couple minutes and then fired a Z bank that hit every rail on the table once, two of them twice and rolled the ball he was shooting at a bit over a diamond to stop in the jaws of the pocket he was shooting at. To add difficulty there were at least ten balls on that bar table when he did it! I have seen some funny flukes but that remains the best deliberate shot I have seen live.
