Hey there guys. I'm in the mood to expand my limited pool library. Currently, I own the 99 Critical Shots in Pool and Phil Chapelle's Play your Best Straight Pool. I am shooting straighter and playing better overall than I ever have, so I am thinking that something that discusses various game strategies would be nice instead of something that focuses on fundamentals.

What do you guys think? For what it's worth, I like to play all games.

Thanks in advance for your suggestions.

I'm looking forward to the answers, as well. Though I believe there was a similar thread not too long ago (be prepared to hear that!).

I have a birthday and fathersday coming up, and I want to get another book.

(I too have 99 Critical Shots, love it.)

Dr. Daves .. Illustrated principals of Pool and Billiards.
Anytime I have a question I go to that book. It also gives you references to online videos.

Books

Illustrated Principles is really good.

Banking with the Beard.
Zen Pool
Pleasure of small motions
A Mind for Pool
I Came To Win
The Lesson

These were some of my favorites. Also Like

World Trick Shots - Mike Massey (actually has helped some real game situations)
99 Critical Shots
250 Moves Every Player Should Know
Play Your Best Straight Pool
Pool Players Edge
The Stroke Zone
Point The Way

Just to name a few ;)

Any one try this book "The Best Damn Pool Instruction Book, Period!" ?
I borrowed the 99 critical shots and it has already been useful. The recommendation for table time is great but hard to come by. Also looking at any other recommendations. Thanks for the thread, John

I like "The Best..." book. Lots of good shots and drills to work on. Other than the above mentioned books, Freddy the Beard's other book, The Gospool, is a really good one.

There are lots of good and some not so good books out there. I recommend all of Capelle's books, Dr. Dave's book and DVDs, and Pleasure of Small Motions.

Thanks for keeping the suggestions coming. Looks like I've got enough reading for the next few months...

I have that book. It's not bad.

Blackjack's book on 9 ball is also good.
