What side of the tip to glue?

With tips that are not domed and the glue side not marked, is it typical to glue the side opposite of the hardness marking or the side with the hardness marking?

Specifically I am looking for what side to glue on the following:

Hercules 12 Layer
Karomi Original Tip
Samson 14 Layer
 
Glue the marked side

Green side up as they say.

How about the side that you intend to put up against the ferrule!

It really doesn't matter.
 
Yes, I would agree with Royce. Unless Tom Hay pipes up, it doesn't really matter, just some makers are smart enough to indicate which is the glue side so they don't have to constantly answer the question.

The glue side is the bottom side.
:D
If you glue the top, it'll stick to the jig.

I always glue one on so the customer can still see the writing on the top.

This way there is no question of what kind of tip I put on. Then if they want it taken down, I can do that too.
 
Most tips used to be punched out of a sheet of layered leather. As the punch comes down it rounds the top a bit and pushes a bit of leather over the bottom (it feels sharper). I always sand and glue the sharper side.
 
Use the side with the M or other emblem on those tips as the glue side.
On Moori tips you use the side with the little glue bottle picture. On Tiger tips you use the emblem side as the glue side.
