Can anyone tell me what Simonis cloth they use in Vegas? I have an 8' Olhausen table that I bought when I moved into my new house and I hate the cloth on it. I want to get the same type cloth as I will be playing on when I go for the Nationals in may. I have looked at the cloths but am very confused as to what the differance is between all the 860's, 780's...etc.

Also, if there is a way to make the pockets much tighter. I didnt realize how easy the Olhausen plays...would like to make the pockets more like the diamonds I practice on. Any suggestions would be great and Thank You in Advance.

That would be Simonis 860 TV blue according to their website. They make pocket reducers for most tables but I think they are pricey. My brother just bought a new Brunswick and I had him get the big pockets cause they are better on a home table for novices. Wish I had told him tight pockets cause I almost hate it. It's too damm easy. So easy people who shouldn't ever beat me do so. They would never win on a tight table!

I could be wrong

My understanding (If you're talking about the Diamond Bar Boxes that all the tourney players play on) is that Diamond have a special color made for them.

You can get blue cloth in a few different shades but that color will only come on a Diamond.

Why don't you just buy one of the tournament tables from Ric when they come to Harker Heights in April?

I played 300 days in 09 in Vegas and proably 250 days in 2010 in Vegas this year.

The days I missed I played in LA for the most part.

So I know what I'm talking about here. No matter what cloth you use you cant duplicate Vegas conditions, unless you live in a area where single digit humidity exists, its so dry in Vegas the tables play different there than anywhere, except a TV table with the big TV lights. Those tables play similar to Vegas tables.

I wouldnt worry about it too much, come to Vegas a couple days earily and play, you can adjust.

I'd guess in a normal humidity area 860HR would be a good choice, 760 is too fast and that would be difficult to adjust from 760 to 860 no matter what the conditions are.

best of luck,

Eric:)

So true.... I'd imagine 760 would play similar, in my coastal climate, to 860 in Vegas.

But I wouldn't get 760 to play on regularly... Just get 860, make sure it is on really ticket, get a dehumidifier, etc. then get to Vegas early and adjust.

I had given thought of buying one of those tables but most of the games around here (especially money games) are played on 8' tables. I bought my new house a month ago and made the decision to go with an 8 footer.

the climate here is very similar to vegas...hot as hell but dry heat..no humidity. so 860 is the answer.

The color is called Tournament Blue and is available in 860, 860HR and 760 from most every retailer that sells Simonis.
It's not specific to any particular table mfg.
