What sneaky pete do you recommend? WTB wood-to-wood hustler

You can get perfectly good sneakies for around $200 or less. I have several wood-to-wood SPs including Meucci, Jacoby and Predator. The Meucci is the sneakiest. PM me for prices.

maybe i should make myself more clear: with wood to wood i mean hidden joint

schmelke is really interesting. do they have good effect? some cheap cues are really stiff and unresilient på play with

Best sneakies I've ever owned (and wish I still had!), all wood-to-wood joint:
1988 Meucci (not the new ones)
1990 Frey
1985 Huebler
2002 Predator
and my current, second shooter,
2008 Pechauer PRO-H

If you can find any of these in 95% new condition for less than $200, grab them, or let me know and I will!

Lots of good advice offered already.

But it seems to me you aren't talking about spending hundreds. Low budget means low budget. No joint collar means you probably don't want veneered points either.

Almost any sneaky off the shelf might do in that case. Add an upgraded shaft later if you want to but in the mean time a good tip on a run of the mill sneaky will get you by. There isn't a whole lot of difference in how they play. A cheap ferrule will probably curl your toenails though.

The only sneaky I have (and I mean true sneaky, I don't consider anything else a sneaky pete at all), I got in 98 or 99. It is a J&J that I bought in a pinch in LA when I had the chance to shoot with a well known player but didn't have my cue with me. I had the ferrule and tip upgraded off the bat. Later I had the shaft taper extended a little. Other than that it has never been touched. It has a collarless piloted 5/16 18 joint, very unusual.

Years later I got another shaft for it, this one with a black collar but much better wood. It does play better than the original shaft, but it's not a sneaky with that shaft on it because it has a black collar.

You could conceivably put your money into a good shaft and then just look for a cheap used run of the mull sneaky butt for it. Not a bad strategy IMHO.

The Meucci is the sneakiest.

x2

IMO, hold out and find a pre dot unmarked meucci. I've used the same one as a bar cue for 15+ years now and the shaft is still perfect. I've seen here and ebay for $150.

Many nights I've been asked, "why didnt you bring your stick".

Players will spot a good ferrel and joint but 95% of the players I've come across dont notice it.

For me it's my purple heart Meucci sneaky pete. It never let's me down and plays consistenly well with no surprises. It's very low key compare to others on the market. Should it gets stolen it can be replaced without breaking the bank.

I collect cues but my Meucci is what I play with.

Another great cuemaker that builds nice sneaky's is Leon Sly, he will build you a cue with the joint which ever way you would like, he's also on the forum << ED

if anyone has got a meucci or huebler sneaky to sell please pm me
i think i have settled for that

must be hidden joint and look like house cue

Hello,

I'm looking for a sneaky pete cue. New or used doesn't matter but i am on a low budget. I need shaft effect like that i get from huebler, meucci, viking, 314 cues, but i also need a sleek and no-fancy look, wood to wood joint etc.

How are the budget sneakys? Action, Scorpion, Players etc?

Viking G-22 sneaky's are excellent hitting cues....

You may have to do a search to find them, the one above is just a picture of it... I believe they are a retired line of cues, but I think you can still get them online....

I own 3 Schmelke sneaky petes, all with wood-to-wood joints and the Schmelke pin. Each cue has a different shaft taper, and the one with their "pro taper" hits very well indeed. The standard straight taper hits quite stiff imo (great break cue btw), and the one with an "extended pro taper" plays a bit softer.

As for the company, they are outstanding to deal with and make a great product in the USA.

Good luck with your search.
