What Speed... Ike Runnels..

GOOD ? I seem to remember him winning a batting title, maybe ?

Career .291 hitter, he was a good ballplayer. Had his best years with the Red Sox after he was traded from the Senators. Not much power though, mostly a singles hitter but one of the stars of the game for several years.

Ike is a pro level player but not a threat to win the U S Open unless he catches a gear and a few other guys have flat tires.

Ike.......

I don't think Ike is a pro level player. he does shoot pretty sporty and no glamour to anything. He is old school, good fundamentals and nothing flashy. It takes a very good player to beat him, but pro level, I don't beleive so.

I sat and watched Ike beat Fabio Petroni in the Derby 9 ball in 2007. He is not to be taken lightly in any game :)

True that

I wasn't digging for information on Ike. I know how Ike plays. Just simply asking what "others" feel his speed is in 9 ball.

I don't care to watch too many players play as not much impresses me to be honest. But Ike is one of the few who I actually like watching. Like watching him in one pocket anyway.

Efren, Bustamante, Varner, Buddy Hall, and Earl when he wasn't so crazy are among my very short list of players I would actually sit down and care to watch play.

I gotta agree with ya on the fact that Ike is great to watch as well! He's one smooth cat and I dig his style on and off the tables! Like many have mentioned here, he's had his moments of glory in the world of 9-ball and I've personally seen him take down some champions in tournament play. I also have to say that although I believe him to be a fine 9-ball player, her's just not consistently going to be competitive on the international level, which is what I consider a true professional in todays world of cue sports.

Hey keep ok hittin' square at the back of the hole and all will be right with the world! :) Take care man!

I feel the same way, Ike, Efren, and Hall are the most fun to watch because they get a bit creative. The rest are like robots which is great for winning, but not for watching.

IP is probably his best game but he is a force in 8Ball, 9Ball and Banks. He would surprise you if you ever saw him get down. He beat Billy Incardone out of +$25K a couple of years ago playing even 1Hole. Not too shabby there. Him, Ritchie and Jeff Sergent beat Kirkwoods master team pretty good as well. He's not always the favorite, but nobody has to beat him. He's older than you think as well, so he has tonsa experience!

FUNNY THING ABOUT THAT MATCH.....5 MIN BEFORE THE START OF IT JASON TOLD JEFF THEY WERE ''STEALING''...LOL...ike and ritchie played great..

His best game is banks IMO. I would rate his 9 ball game as slightly above a shortstop. He's very creative though, and watching him play I get the feeling he knows a few things that few know about, especially in banks.

It all depends how he feels. As is with most players. If he's feeling it he is liabel to beat anyone.

The secret is feeling it every match.

Ike is very smart and cagy. I can guarantee this. Anyone that puts on stupid for a few minutes in any match is going to lose to Ike.

Plus you couldn't meet a nicer guy,,,,,,,,,,,,........................

Im gonna say he is only a good regional player in big table nine ball-meaning in a Joss type event held in Chicago with 96 players, he would be expected to finish on average around 9-12th. This is an opinion based on almost nothing so dont anyone get upset.

I agree Dave....But I always thought that IKE was and still is the best undercover player in the us. Undercover is not saying that he is pulling moves by that statement but the man says bout two and a half words a day. I no most of us all no Ike and how and what speed he plays. Its just makes me think bout that subject...........
