What state has the highest level of play?

Thanks Captain Obvious. :grin-square:;)

If you take Vegas out of the equation and think about home States, Florida has to be up near the top. Lots of killers here.

Woof,
Here are Florida's numbers.
8th in total adv/master/grand masters with 46
34th adjusted for population with 1 in every 398,442 people

I've been told by every single person that has ever traveled in the last 5 years. Ohio is hard earned money for a pool player.

Jhanso,
Here are Ohio's numbers.

7th in total number of adv/master/grand masters with 46 (tied with Fla)
22nd adjusted for population with 1 in every 249,694 people.

When it comes to bar table players I'd have to say Wisconsin, California is a big state and has a huge population of good players but when it comes down to Pro's I'd have to say Las Vegas right now but I think Florida will regain that title if bonus ball is finished.

Wisconsin numbers

5th in total adv/masters/grand masters with 47
10th adjusted for population with 1 in every 119,744.

So overall, Wisconsin statistically has the highest combined ranking. Don't let my avatar make you think this is biased. :D

edit---Actually it looks like Nevada has the best combined rating based on the numbers.

I would say Texas or Florida. Seems to be amazing amounts of talent in both states.

Cleary,
Here is how Texas stacks up.

#1 in total adv/master/grand masters players with 113 (most by a large margin with 2nd place Minnesota having 81.

21st adjusted for population with 1 in every 215,283 people.

edited to 21st adjusted for population. Forgive the error in my sort.

I don't know about the highest level of play...................

But the weakest level of play with the most gamble has to be Louisiana. :o:grin:

Joey,
As much as you downplay to get action headed your way, you're actually not far off the mark (don't know about the gamble part.

35th in total adv/master/grand masters with 8
41st adjusted for population with 1 in every 551,350 people.

And the winner is....

Minnesota

Based on my statistical analysis listed in an earlier thread. Nobody mentioned them, but here is how Minnesota stacked up.

3rd in total adv/master/grand master players with 81
2nd adjusted for population with 1 in every 61,909 people.

So they are clearly number one in combined statistics. Congrats to them.

Assuming that is accurate as to actual players...

California in my analysis.

3rd in total adv/master/grand master players with 76.
40th adjusted for population with 1 out of every 483,640 people.

In Cali I know it's not. Myself and several other high caliber players that I know in Cali would not be included on that list.

I agree. I don't play in BCA myself and am not on the list. That's why I was clear to specify the caveats in my first thread. Just wanted to give people food for thought and argument.

I was channeling my best At Large imitation with stats.

In all of my travels the toughest players I've played have been in CT & OH. Although I've played some very tough opponents just about everywhere I've gone.

I can't believe no on has stated Alaska. They have more killers keeping their opponents frozen in their chairs than ANY state! :grin-square:

Since you asked KoolKat.

Alaska...
40th in total adv/master/grand master players with 6.
But a strong 11th adjusted for population. 1 out of every 114,382 people.

Guess I will speak up for Colorado. If you go to the BCA website to see those playing in the open, advance, and masters for this year, it looks like Colorado takes the lead in all of them

I live here in NC and I have done some traveling and for what I have seen the conglomeration of "A" players and above is pretty big overall, more than I have seen in any other state I have visited. What are your opinions on this?

ohio obv is up near the top

Bryan,
Because the thread talked about "highest" level of play, open players were not considered in my statistical analysis. Here is how Colorado came out.

9th in total advanced/master/grand master players at 43.
9th adjusted for population with 1 out of every 114,871 people.

Combined ranking of 18th had only 3 better (Minn, Nev, Wisconsin)

I can only speak for Fl but there's some damn good players here. i shoot decent (in my opinion) but i struggle to place in the money on the Poison tour...
I'd put Fl up against any state.
