After watching some POV streams, I second that.:thumbup:
I didn't ask the question, someone else started the thread. Later in the thread, someone posted a link to BCA advanced/master/grand master list as a data point.
Since I had nothing better to do, and happen to like statistics, I did a state by state breakdown and shared my findings.
Nothing scientific or exact about it. Just statistical analysis based on the BCA list and population by state.
Yes, we know not all great players play in BCA. I myself would not be found on the list since I don't play BCA. Jaden also commented about that himself.
But since there is no TRUE way to count and qualify all "high level" players in every state, I figured I'd throw something out there just to give some data for people to brag about or ***** about.:grin:
My first thought is California. Monsters all over the place there.
That's cool....As far as top named pro's FL has a few but when it comes to short stops and guys no one knows FL is a tuff state to get the money in.
FL, OH, CA, WI... years ago I'd put IL on the list but not anymore. I remember Neils placing around 5th at the US Open and then playing in a tourney in Chicago not long after that, competing against local players and finishing 5th here too.

As soon as I saw the thread title, my answer was "based on population size" I think North Dakota has the most A level or advanced players. I lived in ND and people there are snowed in over half of the year, which makes them some kick-ass pool players and bowlers.

Ohio, If you are mad at your cash, this is the place to go. So many good players that will gamble. I am not talking about tournaments, there are a number of young players that play real good. Just my opinion.

Stats are misleading
As much as stats are skewed based on a number of factors, I'll give JoeyA some props in this. Ask anybody who has traveled from New Orleans, to Houma, to New Iberia, to Lafayette, and Lake Charles on their way to Beaumont,TX and they'll tell you how good the unknowns are around these parts. I'm not dissing Alexandria,Monroe, or Shreveport either, because they have players who can shoot and haven't seen a pool league in years. I have been fortunate to have lived in California, Wisconsin,Iowa,North Dakota,South Carolina and at worst New Jersey. All Great Pool States. All with monster players. The Best,...no way to choose. But if I wanted to keep my money, I'd stay out of "The Devil's Triangle" of Colorado,Wyoming,and Montana. They be Bandits there,lol!!
Post the list and I'll come take a little spot and try em some. I was in Ohio not long ago and all I heard was talk. Maybe I was in the wrong place
