What this world needs....tip!

What this world needs is another medium tip! Seriously, how many medium tips will pool players support? How can I a regular guy sort these into groups somehow to help me pick the right tip? How do you group/sort med tips and decide which one to use as a cuemaker, cue repairman or customer. How did we get to the point of 100+ medium tip choices?

The reality is that there are many many tips I have never tried.

However....The one that is on my cue right now is currently the best tip on the market...At least that is what I tell myself...

you gotta wade through the garbage to find out what works for you. it's all trial and error. if only moori's hadn't gone down the toilet. used to be you could just grab a moori and focus on the rest

There's a new tip on the market in Japan that supposedly hits like the old Mooris. Its priced at 4200 yen per tip! That's $50!

No tip is worth 4200 yen! I do know that!

Anyone try the Tiger Onyx? I like their Emerald, but the green tint is weird on the wrong cue!

Onyx vs Wizard...anyone compare?

I think my personal player tip price limit is about $10-$15 USD each. I'd like $5 or less!

what happened to moori tips???

i have been using moori tips for about 6 years or more. i havent noticed any change in their performance. why do you say they went "down the toilet"? did i miss something?

I think to much time is spent worrying about tips, and not enough time is spent working on fundamentals. Tips are certainly important, but they are just another part of the tool we call a pool stick. I think that if people spent more time working on their fundamentals trying to find that magic tip would no longer be important and having all these choices would no longer be a problem for some. Because in truth I have never found a tip that I could not play with, except in those cases where a layered tip has delaminated (Lost a Layer), or the for non-layered tips where the side of the tip chipped off or the tip cracked.

No disrespect intended but, I really don't see the issue.

i personally have noticed a change in quality. the newer ones seems harder and seem to glaze over. i might just be unlucky though. i've had some luck with lesser known layered tips. they seem to outperform the new moori tips hands down.

right now i'm using a triangle and i've got no real complaints.

I totally agree. I just am wondering how there can be sooooo many tips marketed in the same category. As a cuemaker, do you see how this makes any sense, especially considering how small the market is for tips is. This is the market:
All the people in the world; pool players; own your own cue; will pay more than $1 for a tip; care enough to do more than replace what was on it before. . .This has got to narrow down to like 100 people! Why would you ever develop a cue tip?

Found this in cyber land and thought I should post it to add to the mix!!!

Everything I do is more or less based on Triumph. . .So, I tried Wizard and it is good, but can hard spot in the middle of a match. . .So, I'm thinking of reaching out and trying Everest or Onyx. . .

For the last 5 years or so, I've been mostly using Everest tips on my own cue.
The The last year or so, I've been using a water buffalo tip.
I like the crisp hit and sound of a hard tip, and also the hard tip will let you know if you get sloppy...
Back before layered tips, it was LePro all the way!
