Ok, so I'm a newb... but, I have a set of generic sticks for recreational use (not for me personally). This one in particular is missing a tip, and I have no idea what to purchase for it...

It's threaded, and reads 'Excalibur' on the side.

The word your looking for is a ferrule and a tip, both are missing in your photo's. Unless you have the equipment send or take the cue to a repair person, while the work is simple if you don't know what your doing you won't like the results.

The cost for this repair will depend upon where you are located and the type of ferrule material and tip used in the repair. I normally charge $25 for the most basic of material.

Take Care

thanks for the response! well, i live in central Ohio, and was kinda looking for a cheap way to take care of this. it's only going to be a spare stick for when there's extra company. but, of course i want a decent result...

probably the cheapest way would be to make it a ferruleless cue. remove the threaded part and glue a tip directly to it,, some people are paying big money for this type of shaft..
not sure how it will work out on this though. but it will be cheap

Yea that is a wierd looking tennon for the ferrule but it can be resized or as Carl said the cheapest way is to cut the tennon and glue on a tip.--Leonard

one other minor question... what type of 'big money' are people paying for this type of shaft?

Its more than just cutting the tenon or ferrule off a shaft to make it a low deflection shaft. There is more that goes into a LD shaft than just that and if the tennon would be cue off theres the fact of the shaft being shorter than before also  .And just the shaft alone off a excaliber sneaky may not be the best quality shaft to do that with .. Just take it to a qualified repairman and he will know what to do and install a basic ferrule and tip of your choice and it wont be expensive . << ED
