what tip is good for breaking/playing tip on one cue? reason I ask cause I got a schon cue which I usually play also a break/jump cue. I want a tip that break and for playing on my break/jump cue in case my playing cue tip come off.....I got a back up with my break/jump cue. I understand having 2 shafts is better for back up on my original playing cue which I do have 2 shafts but wanna have back up on my break/jump cue. so what is a better tip that is kind of in the medium tip wise. Thanks for the help

What ever tip you play with the best can also be used for breaking. Now if you bring jumping into the mix there is no such tip that does it all well.

Okay. also another question.....I am a medium hitter on game. I like to hit little hard on some shots. I've been miscueing lot lately on my medium hard black kamui tip. I even shuffer it and chalk it then miscue again. seem to think tip getting little worn out. I need to know what different tip brand name that kind of same for a medium hard tip? I want a tip that hold chalk very good than a medium kamui tip does. any suggestion? I am asking cause sometime next week i gotta change my break/jump cue tip with a different tip since BCA doesn't allow break cue using phenolic tip. so tell me which playing tip good for medium hard tip

if you are going to be using the other stick for just jumping and break shots....not playing....id go with the hardest leather tip you can find...im not sure what that would be, but it would kind of help simulate what the phenolic is good for without actually being a phenolic.

I play with schon also, I break with my playing cue a lot (sometimes cue ball gets away from me), I use medium tips....morokami, wizard, and moori I all like, I think I have a wizard medium on it right now, but not absolutely positive.

not sure if these statements help any, but, good luck :)

Try the Tiger Emerald, very similar to the medium Black Kamui but seems to grab the ball a little better especially when the cue ball is on the rail. You don't have to elevate the butt like you do with the Kamui.

I use Mad man for break and jump tip replacements.

On my own break cue, I use a Super Pro. You can also use it to play with.

From the information you have given a re-pressed Triangle is what I suggest you switch to for playing and a single Layered Mad Man Break Tip for breaking.
You can get both at the cuesmith link below.

For Jumping I use the Madman Jump only tip and clear a ball 3 - 4 fingers away. I have used the same one for about a year and think it will go another year easy.

BCAPL changed the rule awhile back you can now use phenolic...

As far as a replacement for a medium Black Kamui... Ki-Tech medium from Outsville is a single layered tip that has been treated to enhance the COR like the Kamui black and I have no issue with saying that it will be in the ball park... Currently I am doing 3 for $20 mix and match or 10 for $60...

I always tell people start with the soft and move up if the cueball travel is less than what you are envisioning.... All 3 Ki-Tech hardness ratings are different tips entirely... We do not just make one tip and press it differently.....
