What tip shaft combo gives the most spin...

tpoppa,

I've used Elk Masters & Brunswick Blue Diamond tips for more than 40 years & they have worked great in the area you're talking about, most spin with the least speed & that is what the difference is about. As many say, one can get as much spin with a hard tip as a soft tip but can one do it with the EXACT same speed. It's all about spin to speed ratio.

:D

Yeah, I was going to mention the Brunswick Blue Diamond tip but I didn't think anyone would of known what I was talking about. Boy---when you first put on a new Blue Diamond tip, they are really nice. Now after six months they do harden up though.

I still have a small stash of them put away from lots of years ago.

Follow through is the secret to spin... there is no silver bullet.

Amen, it's the shooter and his ability that makes the cue ball do what he wants it to. There is no magic shaft and tip. Learn your fundamentals as well as you can and you can spin the cue ball with any cue!

My friend and I did a bit of testing with different shafts and tips. The most action we got was with a layered tip with a Predator 314-2 out of the 4 shafts we tried, including a standard one with a one piece tip, a standard shaft with a layered tip and a Players HTX LD shaft with a Kamui Soft on it. I think the layered tip on his 314-2 was a Black King.

We did a low right spin shot with the ball about 2 diamond from a corner pocket and an inch from the rail with the cueball on the spot and saw how close we came to the diagonal corner pocket.

I'd like to try a shaft/tip that creates lots of spin to see if I can adapt it to my game.

What tip shaft combo have given you the most spin with the least effort (slowest cue ball speed)?

I don't mean subjectively which do you think is better. Just looking for lots of cue ball action.

IMHO - any good conical taper shaft - like the 3 cushion players favor - with an OLD
Champion tip is the most effective if you want to super spin the ball.

FWIW - once you get faster than slow rolling the cue ball, slower speed gives more spin -
other things being equal, which they seldom are.

Yeah, I too have a about 3 left. I, as needed, have been putting them on the 6 cues that came with my Brunswick Sport King. I've seen them being sold on ebay from China but I am not sure if they are authentic or not. I think they can last longer than six months, depending on the amount of play, & perhaps the new tip protectors would make them last longer but that's just a guess. What I did with them is I'd push them up & in from the outside with my thumb to sort of decompress them while limiting any mushrooming. I think they & those methods are just one more thing of days gone by.

I love to load the ball with juice,
To see it dance and spin.
I get 8 or 9 rails sometimes
It helps me get a win.

I spin it hard with outside
On every hanging ball
It glides along the rails
To see what else will fall.

Mike Massey once was watching
I could tell he was impressed
My 29 ounce cue and me
Was put to every test.

Whitey every now and then
Will loft into the air
And on a nearby table
It will land with utter care.

My powerful big stroke
Isn’t welcome at the hall.
I left to many cue ball dents
All across the wall.

I want to join the league
And show the guys my stuff
But the guy in charge of APA
Said I really was too much.

I find that a Crown tip on a short Mason's Micarta is the stone nuts. Stroke shots are effortless.

How

I'd be interested in the joint. Steel transmits energy different than wood, etc.

How ?
I would say wood compresses more then steel but I don't know how it would transfer the same energy going the same direction with the same amount of resistance any differently.

By the way my strongest draw shot is with my break cue and a phenolic tip.
