ok guys i have a schon and i love it but my friend builds cues and we were talking about making a bushka/mottey/szamboti knockoff.. he said about 600-800 to make it and im only 17 thats hard money to come by for me.. i have a job and everything but im saving money to buy a ws6 trans am.. now heres where i want help.. would you guys get the cue? what do you think my resale value would be? all his stuff is gorgeous and flawless and he uses radial pins that hit probably as good if not better than my schon.. so would you think i could get a good resale out of it if i decide to get the car?? thanks for the help guys

is he a known builder? what is his name? that is really going to account for resale value....

If you are saving for a WS6, you had better start a seperate fund for gas and insurance, respectively.

Since you asked....here goes -

Keep the Schon, and steer clear of the WS6. As stated by another poster...the insurance/gas money is gonna KILL you. I am serious. I am twice your age, and blew all my money back when I was younger on making my car faster, and dumping HUGE loads into the all important sound system in the car too. I'm talkin' $K's and $K's that I'll never get back :) Get yourself a 4 banger Jeep Wrangler. It's still a fun vehicle, is MUCH better on gas, and at least half the price in insurance at your age. Invest all the money you woulda spent instead, and retire younger and get a "REAL" car then, you'll appreciate it more, and no offense, have better taste by then..... :)

great advice........you wont do it, but its great advice lol

That would be a sweet ride at 17 but I agree with Roscoe, gas and insurance-especially if you get any tickets will probably require alot of extra money for ownership. I speak from experience being given a new 1986 IROC-Z off the lot when I was 16 back in 86. Had a very hard time paying for the insurance back then. Gas was easy at 98cents/gallon.

Now regarding the cue and the $800. Unless you are getting a killer deal on the car, $600-$800 won't make much of a dent in the over all price. Probably cover taxes and title. So, if you really want the cue, I would say get it and still go after the car. Once you get into the car, you probably won't be able to save the $600-$800 again for the cue. If you do get the cue, make sure he signs and dates it and maybe flag it 1 of 1. That will help the value if his work as a cuemaker becomes of value.

Deals like this, I think about what I can easily attain with minimal wallet impact verses what I could afford over a longer time frame (car payments). I always side with the easily attainable first.

ps - ever changed the spark plugs in an LS1? :p

btw... I'm almost 30 and these are a few of the cars I have blown an ungodly amount of money (not including my trucks, which you can see in one....) doh! won't let me upload them all...

I've had 6 Mustangs and doubt I'll own another... why? Waste of money. Had I driven the nice 4 door sedan that I have now, I'd have another $50K+ in an account.

Long story short - keep the schon, you'll lose cash on an "unknown".

btw - the passenger floorboard in the WS6 sucks.

Mustangs are a waste, huh? Here's a pic of the one I had from 98-01 - it's a 98 Stage II with a few upgrades on top of that :) ). BTW, The car I blew money on when I was younger (16-17) was a 69 GTO Judge....can I get a big, "DOH!" for selling that one. :)
98 was still the slowest year made.... :p

the black notch that you saw in my garage laid down 616/640 single stage (175 shot) on a 306. N/A was 388/401.

Now ask me how much I put in to it vs. how much I got out of it.... (The black GT when finished - that was the day it was purchased - had a P1SC w/ full AC running 11.0's @ 128)

I would cry over the GTO.

ooops, came out wrong Roscoe...I was agreeing with you. I wasted WAY too much on that darn Roush I had....I finally settled down after 30 - letting the wife drive the nice car, and me in a pick-up :) I will have another 3rd vehicle sometime, but no way can I talk the wifey into it now (due any day with our first - after 10 1/2 years of marriage). :)

Trust me, I know the feeling... We just had our first together 2 days after our 9yr anniv.

It was fun while it lasted, but if I had it to do all over again..... I'd have put it into the house!!!! :p

97 and 98 were....that's why it went to Anderson Ford (Ron Anderson is regarded as a GREAT Mustang builder nationwide - and he's only 45 mins. from me) the same week I bought it. New heads, this and that, and maybe a whistling thingy under the hood...but she was no straightliner, Stage II had excellent suspension upgrades from Roush back then, and it'd corner like you wouldn't believe :) I think the last time I had her dynoed it was 380 something to the rear wheels...again, no drag car, but SUPERB for twisties!!! :)

pfft... turning is for the shut down lanes....

Ron built the blower cam for one of my coupes years ago, I think it was a B41 or something to that effect?

Stay with the Schon, forget the hotrod, and save for COLLEGE.

I got rid of the sport car/mid-life crisis itch with this:

f4c8e297.jpg

It's a lot of fun, goes fast, not very expensive when compared to a car with similar performance and gets ~40 mpg...just can't drive in the rain, snow, cold weather, real hot weather... ;)

Just to make this a pool related post...depends on who the builder is on the cue. If it's an unknown, you'd be lucky to get 1/2 out of it, unless he's known in your area. He could break out and be the next Zyler, but I wouldn't bet on it.

Jhendri - been there too :) Man, too have all that back. Mine was a Honda 900RR

OK, screw it kid. I changed my mind, buy 'em both...blow lotsa money while you're young (just like we all did), and complain about it later!!!! :)

It's not practical, but practical in the moment is not FUN!!!

LOL, I'm starting to think the same!!

First you'll want a cut-out, lid, and SLP catback... :)
