A billiard room owner I know has 20 sets of used aramith balls he just replaced with new TV centennials.
He wants to do something with them and I said make a burning man figure with all the balls.
Has anyone done something like this and are there any other ideas out there that would look good in the front area of his billiard establishment?
Thanks Again

He may want to contact Cocobolo Cowboy here on the forum and donate them to the Boys Club. He can write them off as a charitable contribution on his income tax and help young kids too.

That's a great idea! Everybody wins on that one...

I would drill holes in all of them. Get some plastic coated metal cable...

Then make 10 nice bead score keeping setups and put them above the tables.

Thought about doing this at home with some crappy balls I have laying around.

If you can't give them to Cocobolo Cowboy, you can slice each ball into 1/16" chips and bind them together with aluminum wire to make a scale mail armor shirt. This would be great for paintball or even real urban combat. Try it out and let us know how it goes. :)

Someone posted on the net finger rings made out of numbers on pool balls.

They could become part of a gag trophy.

They could be used as marker system showing places on a pool room ladder.

They could become part of a piece of art work based on some theme and the X ball.

You could give a ball wrapped in a towel to people to be used as a weapon for self defense and carried under the car seat (cute gag).

I like the score counters over a table idea. That would be cool.

They could be a gear shift handle.

They could be used as a door knob on the rest room and other places.

Could be used as a new version of corn hole.

Could be used to set up a game of marbles on a pool room rug (kinda funny), might even have a tournament with the CB as the shooter.

You know how some wall tile has a top line to define the tile, Cuttng the balls in half (or less) would make a good liner for tile.

How about 1/2 balls used as some sort of tile in front of the counter in a pool room.

Could be an interesting decoration (with rack) and a couple of crossed sticks
over the pool room door (coming or going).

One or more ball(s) mounted in some way becomes a conversation piece on your coffee table or the dash of your car -- says "I am a pool player." Include the name of the pool hall and it a conversation starter and an ad for the room.

Use a ball hung from the ceiling to indicate table numbers in a pool room. Say a sign that said "Table" then the pool ball mouted underneath.

For a commercial room -- or maybe mine for that matter -- I like a set of racked balls and crossed sticks as a medieveal type shield. Not sure what motto I would use but something would come to mind. Might even be able to sell one or more pool crests in this way with the buyer's name and some motto underneath.

There are many things that could be done. How many things can you do with a brick? is an old test that is used to assess creativiity. The trick is coming up with lots of ideas and then going back and selecting the best ones. There are lots of creative people here and this is a fun thing do do -- for some people.

Drill out and use on a birthday cake as candle holders.

Place markers at a dining room table.

A sign that spells some name.

My wife says 1/2 balls could be used as a wall hanger.

Create a floor or lawn game.

I would...

donate 1/2 the sets

take the remaining sets and cut the balls in 1/2.... arrange a criss cross
diagonal pattern on a large blank wall and inset "hall of fame" pictures in the insets between balls....

Start the photo collage with some famous players that have visited and signed photos and save the remaining spots for the winners of your new annual "biggie"............... incentive for coming and playing in your big event.

I have a large, heavy margarita glass that I threw an old rack of balls in to make a decorative piece for my home pool room.

I like the scorekeeper idea as well!

How about placing some in a big bowl or jar with a sign that says $XX per ball. Let the player decide what to do with it. Could also include a list of suggested uses such as some of the suggestions listed here.

Could have a sign that said "Buy a set of balls to ship to the Boys' Club" XX dollars. Send the balls and the money to the Boys' Club

Carry a set in your pocket and have your buddy (the straight man) say "He hasn't got any balls." Then take a pair out and lay them on the table. Now there is a man with a set of cahonies.

Donate them and write it off! If they need them, help out the kids who will eventually support pool in the future....
Think ahead...... before it is too late.

I agree with giving them away for a good cause. The scoreboard idea was cool though, but nothing as gratifying as giving to the less fortunate.

My frat could certainly use some nice balls. The ones we have are wal-mart balls with huge chips and dings.

Used Centennial Balls

The balls don't belong to me but I will tell the room owner tonight. I know he should donate a couple sets and then use the rest for artwork. It would probably take a bit of time because I think they might all be in storage. Hopefully he can get to them quickly.

Ok I sent luv1pocket a PM, hopefully I will hear from him.

Donating them is a great idea! I have also considered building something useful out of some old balls I have lying around. One thing I considered building is a device similar to the BreakRak. I think with a few old balls and some other inexpensive materials, something similar could be designed without too much hassle, and it would be a great device to have around for practice, or to rent out to patrons who wanted to work on their breaks.
