I have a customer from Gremany that inquired about a custom Cue Cap. He sent me a photo and I told Him I can make it. He over pays and I was wondering why..It seems he wanted real Ivory 'cause he kept telling me not to write Ivory in the Custom Forms.. I told him I use alternative Ivory and will not break the law and send real Ivory.. I make him the caps and now, he wants his money back after I make him that special cap Set.. Do I just continue and send him what he ordered? Or can he just call PayPal and they refund his money without knowing what happen? ... His reason (He told me) That Schon sent his Ivory Jointed cue to Germany and it got thru, why can I do it?? Should I call Customs and ask "How do I sneek in Ivory to Gremany Like Schon Did??" I hate to do the "Can of Worms" thing, but,

First off anytime its illegal to export do not put yourself at risk. I hate international customer and paypal because you never know if the file with paypal what they will do. Here is my suggestion and suggestions are like um well you know. Anyway refund his money via paypal this looks as if your going to be on the loosing end of this deal. If you do ship and paypal refunds his money and he does not return the joint protectors you have just lost your labor and material in the caps. Thats my 2 cents...

I am very sorry to read this. especially as I am from Gemany I start to worry about some idiots destroying a lot of possibilities for us.

When i am buying something with Ivory I do ask the seller before If he can live with the fact to send it to Europe -which means exporting it in a way that it would hopefully pass customs. If the seller doesn't like that I won't order. (why should I knowing this would cause problems)

Please tell this "Customer" to F%%% OFF if he cannot accept your rules.
(and send me Specs and pics of these JP's. I don't need them but for in case that they might fit one of my cues I could very well imagine just to buy these to get it to an happy end for you, even though I m somewhat broken at the moment)

@all: not all Germans are like the two or three very special people that did stir up a lot of trouble in the last months...
not all international customers are freaks, there are enough who know how to behave and how to send and receive cues, etc... from/to their respective countries

I had used paypal for years with never a problem thinking I was protected then out of the blue I got screwed.
Paypal WILL take money back out of your account.
I had this happen over 40 days after the deal.
Paypal sent the notice the money was there ... I shipped the item ... over 40 days later they take the money back.
Why ... because the other guy was in dispute with someone else and they said the money he used to pay me was not his.
All I got from Paypal was the run around.
You will have no recourse but to grin and bear it.
Lesson learned ... never leave ANY money in your paypal account. Transfer it out of there and into a bank account as soon as possable.

Best way to go is forget Paypal and use postal money orders.

If you drop a dime on the guy about him importing ivory his name will be flagged at customs and his importing days will be over.
You might point this out to him and see how he feels about it.

I did already think about writing this, maybe you should ship the Caps and label them clearly as IVORY.....

The guy will not only bear the red flag considering Ivory for the rest of his life, but also have to pay customs no mater whatever he will import in the future :D

I should not have used SCHON's name, it was a Schon Cue. I don't know who sent it there. I was just telling the story the customer told me..about how come I cannot ship Ivory when his Ivory Jointed Cue got to Germany..SORRY! SCHON..

I did take RD's advice and will PayPal his money back, less the PayPal Fee that was taken out by PayPal..I would hate to have to pay that PayPal Fee too!!!

Finish the caps and advertise them.......I'm sure someone will snap them up.
Quality work sells.
You did it right sending his $ back and go on with your biz.

Just do a refund and Paypal will credit the full amount back to his acount.
No fee charges.

Paypal acts liek a credit card and he can reverse the charges and you will be out the money.

probably your best bet is to refund the money and forget about that guy and sell the caps elsewhere.

you could also paint the caps all black with a water based paint or some of that rubber sealer and send them to the guy and make the money,99.9% sure you will have no problems with customs.the .01% is a MF though.also the guy has proven already that he is a jerk and not one to do business with so who is to say that he doesn't keep the caps and stiff reverse charges.

best bet is refund and forget about it.

Alton

If the deal is not completed and the JP's need a new home, I will take them for a Schon.
But I will need one for cue and two for shafts (3-piece set).
Let me know if these need someone to adopt them.

You will make him mad by keeping the fees. If you tell paypal you are refusing the money and refunding it, they will give him full refund and not charge you any fees.

not all German's Idiot's

I don't have his Fees, PayPal took it when he sent the money...Sorry I didn't explain that part..I sent back the amount I received...Didn't keep any of his money..

When I PayPal'ed his money, didn't do it as a refund,( Didn't know about that option..) I did it as a "Send Money" and you choose the e-mail address from the scroll down box..

Thanks All.... Another "Lesson Learned".. No Hard feelings.. Thanks for the support and advice, .. Tomorow, it will be business as usual..:p Alton
