Okay so i'm debating on buying this cue its supposedly a pre-adams helmstetter cue. Rich Helmstetter himself said it looked like a 66-67 of his. If it were the real deal and it was a pre-adams cue what would the value be so i know what to buy this thing for. Any help please and fast.

I believe the story. Richard worked for Gordon Hart, founder of Viking, and you can clearly see the Viking cue influence. Plus it has the look of an early mid-west cue, Eddie laube, etc.

I have not seen a 1960's Helmstetter custom cue before - they are not common at all. A litter from Richard would enhance the value quite a bit.

If you can't get ahold of Helmstetter, try sending some better pictures to Viking cues. info@vikingcue.com

Well i met a lady online who talked to him and she asked if it was a real custom from him and he said yes, but he was interested to see what it said by the butt he said it looked like 66 or 67 of his. But do you think like $300 would be a good price to buy it for cause i'm worried it's not gonna have value cause helmstetter was a production cue maker.

Yes, that would be a steal at $300 assuming it's his. What does it say in the butt?

The production Helmstetter's are a completely different thing....

I will show you a cue that I own that is also thought to be a Helmstetter cues from the Mid-60's time frame. The cue I have is a Brunswick Titlist Conversion Cue, with the original wrap, and it still completely straight.

I am going to include some photo's of my cue that you can compare to the cue in question.

Notice in the photo's above, the shaft insert is not brass it is either Aluminum or steel.

Please that some better photo's of the cue similar to what I have included, with the photo's you have included the joint is not visible, the pin is not visible, the butt is not clear and nor is the wrap.

Take Care
