there's usually a nameplate of a manufacturer on them.

From its looks, you need to replace the felt. depending on how it shoots, you might need to replace bumpers too. But so long as its a slate table (and not a wood bottom) a couple of hundred dollars is decent for almost anything.

Keep in mind that moving it + setting it up is best left to someone who knows how to do it. Prices for people to move a table run from $200-300. disassembling it yourself is possible but not fun to get back together and perfectly leveled. And getting the felt back on the slate can be its own bit of joy.

it's not a coin-op, but if it is a dynamo, then i would make sure it's a slate table.

its def. a slate table I saw that it was orig. purchased for $2399. But other than the price it was acquired for and the Brand name DYNAMO I have no other info. on it. Assuming that the legs come off and the table stays intact. Whats the best method for moving it? I have already tried to find a company to move it but they are quoting me upwards of $1300 to move it a 100 miles. So other than 2 heavy duty 4 wheelers, moving quilts, tie down straps and strong guys will I need anything else?

So, in effect, they are charging you for 1 hour of disassembly, 1/2 hour of loading, 4 hours of driving, 1/2 hour of unloading, 2 hours of assembly and leveling, and miscelaneous stuff (staples, bees wax,...).

Seems high to me... I bought a Brunswick table from a person about 30 miles away and the breakdown, transport, rebuild, and recloth with rails(with cloth I provided, so a full recloth job), was about 450 bucks. If you aren't getting the table recovered and just getting it moved and reassembled, that seems high judging against what I paid.

moving

You must look and see how many pieces of slate the table is made with. If it is more than one you should probably disassemble the table to move it. Do a search for more info on moving tables. The Ask a Mechanic section has info from many great sources.

If its a 7 footer and one piece slate get a ratcheting cargo strap and a furniture dolly. Flip it on its side onto the dolly, ratchet it down tight, remove the legs and roll it out to the U Haul you rented with a ramp.
I've moved 7' bar boxes this way hundreds of times. Back in the day we had a school bus and 12 Valley's we moved them around to tournament sites.

If its' not a one piece slate or bigger than 7' you probably have to take it apart.

Thx for the input and info. I picked the table up today. It wasn't quite what I was expecting but its in good condition for it to be as old as it is I'd give it a 7 out of 10. I emailed Dynamo and a rep. emailed me back and informed me that the table is an Old Dynamo Star table from the 80's! Its 100% original and only needs new leveler legs and felt. I took 3 guys with me to pick it up flipped it on its side onto a 4 wheeler and rolled it right out. We put it on my trailer legs down, strapped it and took off, no problems at all. I didn't measure it yet but its either a 8 or 9 foot table w/ 1 piece solid slate, came with all the balls, 8 and 9 ball racks, wall mount cue rack and 8 cues. So for $200 bucks I won big on this table.

Nice deal!

I hope I can find a good deal when I start looking. We are moving to a house with room for a table at the end of the month. Over the next few months, after the holidays, I will start looking for a table.

My dream would be a Gold Crown, but something like that would certainly be very acceptable. I like the fact that it is a single slate. That's pretty cool.

Enjoy the table!

What type of table

You will get better responses and better information if you post this in the Mechanic section.

Good for you!!!

It's not out of the question to blow a huge hole in $200 just by picking up the dinner and drink tab for four persons.

LOL fortunately I have good favor credit with my compadre's! Im not sure about the rails they have great bounce back but the rep. at Dynamo said that there are no replacement parts to speak of. I am having new felt put on tuesday so I'll post the pics of it asap.

Haha, should send a link to this thread to the moving company that asked for 1300 bucks to move it for you. I don't mind people making money, but 1300 to move something 100 miles is sorta nuts.

I bet they didn't know it was a one piece slate and were including costs for tearing it down then setting up three slates.
