What was the BEST Pool Tournament you every played in?

What was the BEST Pool Tournament you every played in?

Where was the Tournament?

Where was the Tournament held?

What was the Tournament?

8 Ball, 9 Ball, One pocket, 10 Ball, 14/1 or ?

What was it that you like so well about the Tournament?

Here's my list:

  • 2004 World Pool Championships 9-Ball [Taipei, Taiwan (now Chinese-Taipei) - how can you not like representing the U.S. in the World Champs.
  • 2005 US Open 9-Ball (Chesapeake, VA) - a full 256 field and the strongest I have ever seen there.
  • 2006 IPT North American Open 8-Ball (Las Vegas) - I busted my ass to get there, and had my momentum. This was a "professional" tournament. What a way to celebrate my b-day as well (turned 35 during the event).
  • 2008 Battle of Los Angeles 9-Ball (Bellflower, Ca) - my baby. A dream come true. Fabulous competition to boot!!!

Those were the best or most elaborate tournaments; however for pure field quality and overall awesome factor, it'd be the 2006 IPT 8-Ball Tour Card Qualifier at Hard Times Billiards in Bellflower, Ca. World-Champion, after World-Champion, after World-Champion in that field. All chasing a dream. Very cool. Bummer it was all a big let down, but at least everyone got together, on the same path, even if for a short time.

Some interesting deserve mentions are: Glass City Open, Capital City Classic, BCA Open, Bicycle Club Tournaments, and Allen Hopkins Las Vegas 9-Ball (used to be held alongside the APA Nationals).

Yea its always nice to get pics with Ralf, Efrain, and Mike Massey.....

I cant imagine trying to compete in a tourny with 900 players!!!!!

I was only a sweater

Late Feb early March 1979 Private tournament at Greenway Pool Hall Baton Rouge La.

Field of Big Name Road Players all of who's names I can't remember Steve Mez, St Louie Louie, Handsome Danny, Flyboy to Kieth Mcgreedy who won it as a 20 some year old. But there was sandbagging for the green room action

The Big Deal was the Green Room action. 9 handed Payball game $ 100 a ball and $ 200 on the 7. It even went 2 & 4. The game was continuous 24 hours a day for days on end. Flyboy and Handsome Danny ran rack after rack and reportedly made $ 20,000 each. Next door was an Empty store with tables and Bleachers set up for Green Room action. Jersey Red who Beat Willie for the World Straight Pool Championship one year in the 1950's was there and couldn't shoot a lick.

The action happened for just over two weeks and 24 hours a day. This is the Closest I ever got to Johnson City type action.
