This is not a condition reserved just for pool players entering the "Golden Age". People need to start planning for retirement when they are in there 20's. I have a brother that is 2 years older than me and I don't think he's ever going to be able to afford retirement. I just retired and still haven't touched my 457 plan money and don't plan to until I'm in my 70's. I have excellent health insurance and the reason for that is because I did plan for my retirement in my 20's. Instead of playing pool on the road, I chose my priorities:
1. Marrying my sweatheart and still married for 30 years.
2. Raising two wonderful children - one just graduated from college and the other is still going.
3. Securing a good job that provides excellent benefits and sticking with that job for 28 years.
Now, I'm playing pool full time and loving it. I think I can still cut the mustard, I'm going to give it a try anyway. The nice thing about it is, now I don't have anything to lose by shooting pool full time. For years I've been playing recreational pool, a couple of hours here and there, not enough to get consistent. I can wow some of the locals but I've never been able to consistently play at the level that I thought I could. Now I get the chance to see just what level I can get to. It took me 28 years to get here but I think it has been well worth it! I'll be coming to a pool hall near you one day, watch for me!
