What would be a good two piece cue to make a break cue?

Background:
I'm currently using a 3 piece PoolDawg / Action break / jump cue with a phenolic tip but realizing after using it for a year I don't like the phenolic. And after a year of league play have only broke it down twice to jump with it besides practicing at home.
Lately at home I just break with a one piece wooden cue with a leather tip and I feel like I break so much better with it.

Thoughts:
My thoughts are I don't need a 3 piece cue and feel like a 2 piece would feel more solid vs my current 3 piece cue. I'm thinking I'd be better off with a two piece solid wood cue with a hard leather tip. What would be a decent cue for this or are they all about the same in that category?

Thanks as always for your help and input!

My current break cue is a Pechauer. The brand is incidental, and it wasn't marketed as a break cue.

I feel that any two piece with a hard tip, stiff shaft, and weight/balance that you like is probably better than a 3 piece J/B cue. A 3 piece J/B is a compromise, not ideal for either function.

I think the old Spark break cue is still available at clearance prices. Never tried one but I always thought they were likely a good value.

I probably have at least dozen cues that I think would serve me well as break cues.

I can't comment about more modern CF alternatives.

Thanks! I was actually looking at Sparks yesterday. I appreciate the feedback as always!

I had not thought about the Spark for years but saw one used on ebay for 100 plus shipping last week, which I thought was high. So I Googled and found them new for less than that on clearance.

Might be a good option on a tight budget. Heck, might be a good option under any circumstances.

Not fancy, but fancy means nothing for performance.

Yeah I saw one on Ebay too and after shipping it's the same as brand new. LOL I'll look around and see what else I can find. J&J has them and the flyer image they have says hard leather tip and the description says phenolic so I'll need to verify what it is if I buy from them.

I thought they used to be available with either tip for same price. Could be wrong. Of course make sure you know before you buy. You can always ask J&J.

I would keep the jump break cue.
Sand the tip flat and put a hard leather break tip, it will make a ton of difference.
I have of these players modified and it doesn’t feel less solid than the BK2 when it comes to the butt, the only difference is due to the shaft and tip.

Definitely good advice to try tip changes before changing the cue.

But beyond that. I think it's best to have a dedicated cue, if possible.

With that said, many years ago I used my Joss for everything.

I would try a different tip on the 3 piece first. I have a Gulyassy break cue with a phenolic tip, I grew to hate that tip so I had a clear Bulletproof installed on it and it made a huge difference.

Thanks!
Surprisingly it does. The feel of the tip also gives you the confidence to hit off center if you want to unlike a phenolic tip.
That's my issue with the phenolic is I don;t like hitting off center at all with it. My cue has an Action quick release so now you got me thinking that I'll get a Bullet Proof or something else on it and if I like it then look for just an action one piece butt that's not part of a three piece to go with the shaft.

I used my old Dufferin and then my old Falcon for everything up until I joined a league a year ago. I wanted less wear and tear on my play cue was really my only reason. LOL

I went in a little different direction with my break cue. I ordered direct from McDermott an all black, black
leather wrapped 17oz cue with a 14mm shaft. Works for me.

So on this subject...I played hooky from work and went to the pool hall.

My break cue tip has been wonky shaped, really crooked, and the shaft needed attention. I'm busy and have had lots of excuses to neglect fixing it myself.

So I handed my shaft to to the manager. He put it on the lathe and reshaped my crooked tip and polished the shaft.

Holy Mother Of God! I have a new awesome break cue! LOL!

I can BREAK!

Lol awesome man!!

Maybe try a new tip first. But i agree with three piece cues and have never been a fan of them. They are either good at breaking or jumping. I've never had one cue that was good at both.
