What would be in your perfect pool hall?

Howdy folks,

If you were to dream up your perfect pool hall what kind of playing environment would you like to see? Anything and everything you would consider to be a "perfect" place to play.

PLEASE - only list a couple of what you consider important - give others a chance to contribute without a lot of "me too" items.

What kind of tables and sizes would you like to see?

How about decor?

What kind of food/drinks?

What kind of railbird environment (chair placement, exhibition area, etc.)

How often would you like to see top players?

What kind of tournaments and how often?

League play?

Exhibitions?

House/Guest Instructors?
Regular classes?

Pro shop (and how well stocked)?

We had the perfect pool hall here in dundalk (baltimore) for many many years now it is closed for ever!

We had a poker-gin-tonk room in the back, it was hidding back in the back of the pool room cause back in the 70s and 80s 90s it was illegal to have a card room like that.

We had the best 9ball player in the tri state area, so there was always plenty of action coming through our doors.

Ping pong table also in the back.

And every sunday around 50 players playing in the weekly tournament.

and those nickel a game pinball machines, 25 number ones, boy that was the days! Balarina, laguna beach, 2 in the blue, oks.

Times are changing thats for sure, we all though this pool hall would be there forever!

one simple thing one more and one more oh and one more

every one would know and use proper pool Etiquette.
of course the tables should all play close to the same.
and proper climate control all year round to keep humidity out.
it would not be set up so you have to walk through all the pool tables to get to the ones in the back.
that is the main things anyways. and when I open mine in the next few years that is the way it will be. oh yeah all people ball pushers and pool players will always be treated like they are welcome, and appreciated.

Nice level clean tables with SPACE between them, in a nice clean room.

Classy, well made cocktails, beer in frozen mugs.

No smoking. Good munchies. Friendly staff.

Amen. A... freaking... men.

Heck, you're a solid hour away from ANYTHING out there in Evant. You oughta be glad just to have a poolhall of any kind out there !!!

Where's your nearest 9-footer, Waco???

Nothing fancy. I think with poolhalls, the fancier it, the worse it is. I'd want a dimly lit place with high rollers that were always in action and railbirds were always hovering around their games, an oldschool jukebox filled with only classic rock. You could BYOB as long as it was beer or wine but if anyone got even the slightest bit out of line, they were cut off. There would be a poker room in the back, through a door secluded from the rest of the poolhall. There would be no dress code. Basically, how pool halls used to look.
