What would Jaspers play?

According to Dick Jaspers, what is the proper way to play this shot? And I don't mean how do you score the point. In its entirety, what is the proper way to play this shot, including what English do you use, what speed, what is your desired position play, etc? First person to get it 100% correct (according to Dick Jaspers) gets a free USBA patch and bragging rights!

Deja vu? This appears as the same shot you rendered in the last thread! I think Dick Jaspers would select the shot as I described. Do I win some money? Steve's got it almost right with his scenario!, but I don't think that is the chosen shot!-------------------------------- " shoot straight with angles" Dan Bennicas

Yes, it's the same shot. I started a new thread just for the one shot. This makes it easier to find a certain shot you may be looking for.

Another hint:

Steve's choice of shot is the correct one. What we still need is the English to be used (reasonably), the speed and where does the red go.

Jim, Isn't my choice the correct one because that is what I described in my post with more detail and explaining where the red goes for position. I don't want to nitpick but in steve's diagram all three balls are located differently which makes the shot much harder, I'm not sure Dick Jaspers would have chosen the shot if the balls are placed that way! Dan,

Never mind Steve's diagram, the shot he selected for my diagram is the correct shot. However, the position choice is not correct. Also there is a method to the madness when you choose to shoot the shot with a certain English and speed. If more people don't guess soon, I'm gonna just reveal the answer and why.

Jaspers' Solution

OK, since mostly everyone is a scaredy-cat, here is the solution and why:

Reverse-the-rail off the red. Use as little English as possible. Enough to double-the-rail only. Do not use maximum reverse English. Using small English gives you the double-chance to make the shot directly or from the back. Medium-speed. Not very hard but not soft. Enough speed to bring the red back close to the other two balls.

That is the Jaspers' solution.

Great shot!, Double chance if you miss the three rail! I would guess that Jaspers would score going 3 rails more often than he would going 5. Just my humble opinion!

Dick Jaspers is one of the greatest players in the world. Some argue that he is the greatest. Others will say that it is Frederic Caudron or Torbjorn Blomdahl or Raymond Ceulemans (Ceulemans was the World Champion 19 times out of 20 years!).

Hard to argue any of those fellers aren't the best ever, isn't it?

Ceulemans gets the nod from me though, by the slimmest of margins and for the fact that he has been near the top of the heap for nearly 23324 years, adapting. to multiple huge changes in the game.

the greatest player of all time

Jim, you forgot FastEddieF. the guy who is the fastest player of all time including Sonny Cho. LOL
