What would you do - 8 Ball

i like the carom of the 8 off the 14 to the corner, unless you can shoot a lock up safety then you might as well try to win the game.

What would you do

I would have definitely shot the one rail bank safe and put the cue ball at the opposite end of the table no doubt.

I'm down with the safety all the way. You being on the hill adds and element of pressure that needs to be considered even if you don't block the path to the corner pocket with the 8.

I can see that the safe that Jude suggest has a lot of merit but if I just need one game and he needs three I would go for the win whether it be the cut to the corner or the kiss of the 14 ball like the op did.

The safe would be the best option if it was hill hill because the pressure to perform now would be on the opponent.

If I were your opponent and needed three games and you decided to play safe I would be delighted to have another opportunity. Chances are that I would welcome any place you would put me.

My experience tells me that when you put a good player with his back up against the wall and no where to hide they usually come up with that good shot to win.

I short, if I lose this game I will lose it with a chance to win.

Like you're points.

Jude's safety probably is the high percentage shot, but like you say I would be so happy to have a chance that I would figure out a return shot or safety. Could be wrong, but I like to go down swinging (I only have to worry about his 8 ball).

There's a story I heard about Mozart (no idea if its true).

A kid asks Mozart "teach me to write a symphony". Mozart "I think you're to young, how about I teach you to write a ballad". Kid replies "You wrote a symphony when you were my age. Mozart "That's right, but I didn't have to ask how".

Last night my opponent left me this on the 8 ball.
He got lucky and the 14 rolled right into the path of the side pocket and the 15 was blocking the cross side.
What I did worked although I know how risky it was. Just wondering what you guys/girls would have done. I was on the hill and he needed 3.
Cueball is about a quarter of an inch from being frozen on the rail and it's a 9 foot table.

Thanks,
Koop
