What would you do here

I don't get why this isn't the best shot here unless it was bar rules...

That's what I was thinking. Shoot the ten in the left corner leaving the cue ball on the rail and then shoot the 8 in the right corner. Total elapsed time, 10 seconds, game over.

Or you could bank it cross corner and leave teh rock up table on the end rail. Unless you are shooting against a better player that would one rail it into the side pocket. I probably would go with the carom off the 8 here....

Agreed. Why mess with the safety or the not-quite-on carom when each ball has a pocket and you have BIH?

I like this shot.
The other side pocket is in the way of a natural kick...spinning makes it tricky.

If you play the 10-ball in-off the 8-ball, you must put some speed on it...
...the in-off is not quite natural.....but now you're risking making the 8-ball
in the corner.

Agree. The carom is not on and the corner of the side pocket makes it tough. The cross side kick on the 8 is difficult and would have to be perfect with spin to make the 8.

In fact, if you nudge the 10 near the 8, the kick on the 8 would be blocked from going in.

I thought about that shot selection first....
...but if I look at it as a gambling situation....I would bet more money on
winning from the snooker than shooting jacked-up in tight quarters on the
8-ball in the corner.

I like to use 'which way would I bet more money?' as a guide under heat.

Well I just made both balls in opposite corners 10 times in a row.

Then tried the safe and played the role of my opponent and kicked using different rails making good hits many times.

Put me down for the easy out.

Wish I had read this post earlier, as the first page had me completely baffled but the 2nd page was more along the way I was thinking. Before I went to page 2 I even went to my table and played the BIH in between the 2 balls and hit the 10 in one corner and 8 in the other corner three times in a row and couldn't wait to come back here and post what a genius I was...

Oh well, day late and a dollar short, story of my life. :)

A decent player should shoot it that way. But I can easily see someone not familiar with it screwing it up a number of ways.
