Here is my problem, a couple months ago i sent my Sledgehammer shaft back to Mike becaue i shattered the tip/ferrule combo, when i got it back and put the cue together it felt kind of short. I didn't give it to much thought, but one day I just got irritated by it so i called Mike. Told him the story he said there is no way his guys or himself would cut a shaft down to replace a tip/ferrule. He said measure the shaft we make ours 28-1/2", so i measured mine 28-1/8", after discussing this with Mike he said he had a longer shaft 30" there. I play with a 60" cue so I thought ok i might like this, so we agreeed on a discounted price for my troubles. Mike said he didn't need the cue it'll fit perfect, well the shaft comes and guess what? the shaft does not fit and the four turns i can turn it it wobbles? So if this was you what would you do? I'm kind of ready to send the new shaft back to Mike say thanks and just give the cue to my wife and look for a new break cue....

I don't think 3/8" would've bothered me at all....

But - I can see where you are coming from. I'd call him again, tell him that you are sending him both shafts + butt and you want a new shaft for it for your troubles.

If he doesn't do this, I'd think that would drastically change my opinion of his cues.

Here are you options, either:
A) Call mike and send the butt and the shaft back and tell him to fix it so they match up correctly as he said it would
B) Send back the 30 inch shaft and get a refund and be done with the deal

That is pretty much your options...

Luckily I am a small fry and I have not damaged mine, but if I did, I would go buy a Predator BK if I had an experience like this.

I know. I have a great idea!

Why don't you rip him a new butthole on the Internet?

Nahhh...

I'd call him and talk to him rationally about your options. My experience with Mike is that he's a pretty rational guy who's willing to work with you to find a good solution...i.e. win/win.

Jellybean,
I'm not sure what you are trying to say in your post, I'm not trying to rip Mike a new anything iI just was curious what other people would do put in this situation. He's been decent the times i've talked to him on the phone.

Poolbiz,

I remember Mike teklling me once that all of his cues were guarenteed for life. I looked on his website (babysproshop.com) and it also says that all sledgehammers have a lifetime warranty. I would mention this to him. I have bought several cues from Mike, and one of them had the shaft threads rip out. I took it back, and he repaired it no charge like he said. I have always had good experiences in my dealings with him.

Mike

I say you give him a chance to make you happy. It is the best for all involved and he is a good, reputable doohd who will understand this!

I talked to Mike a little bit ago, he was really cool about everything he said if i just wanted to return the shaft it would not be a problem, but it seems like he want's to get the problem solved and figure out what kind of joint pin i have in that cue.

I expected nothing less from Mike. Very standup guy!

That's the best thing, for both of you.

I've just finished my business with Mike yesturday, it turned out i have a radial pin in my cue not a 3/8 x 10 like the shaft he sent. I talked to him and he gave me the options of sending the new shaft back (at my cost) or sending my butt down (at my cost) he would then make me a new shaft, remember i've already paid for the new shaft, then i would have to send him extra money to have it shipped back. So now his tip/ferule combo that is suppose to be replaced free for life was going to cost me over $100! When in the the first place his shop messed up. So unfortunatly it's goodbye Sledgehammer hello Mezz Power Break, Predator, Pete Omen, Andy Gilbert, or if someone else has a suggestion for a break cue let me know, I heard Charlie Bryant was suppose to come out with one?
