What would you tell you Room/Bar Owner to do in 2008

Hand out wireless headphones so the players who want to fracture their ear drums can do it without killing everyone else who doesn't want to listen to that crap.

Personally, IMO its much better to play pool without a migraine headache.

who knows... maybe, just maybe more people interested in playing pool will show up.

Rap . . .

Please . . . no more rap . . .

Mostly, I'd say "keep up the good work," as amsterdam Billiard club is simply the greatest place in the world. Still, one change I'd like to see at the Amsterdam Billiard Club is the elimination of blues music, which sometimes goes on for hours at a time, and is almost reason enough to walk right out the door. I have yet to meet a customer that likes this music. I don't really mind blues music, and would be fine with it if it were played on an occasional basis, but played for hours on end, it rates as punishment for a crime not committed.

I personally love blues, but almost everywhere I've been in the South, whatever music is played is played LOUD! The places I played in in upstate NY NEVER played the music so loud. The owner where I played used to tell people to turn down the music they listened to with phones on because we could hear it at four tables away. No respect, I tell ya.

Rap...

A lot of great suggestions posted but I like DeepBanks thot the most. I'll only add, "No more GD loud rap"!

CLEAN THE RESTROOMS!

What is it about "clean" that pool room owners just do not get?
And that goes not just for the restrooms, but for the tables as well.

 :(

One of the SMARTEST Bar Owner where I live has a weekly pool tournament on sundays. He also has Texas holdem, and a bunch of Televisions tuned to the NFL GAMES.

He get a good crowd in his Bar, and keeps em in the BAR with FREE Hot Dogs, and Chips.

He spends maybe 30-40 bucks on the Dogs, and Chips. People stay and eat the frebees and drink his booze.

He is way in the Black over his cost for FREE Dogs and Chips. Plus he know everyone name, and alway makes it a point to maker everyone feel welcome.

Ban smoking. Of course, he may not have many customers left after that, which would also make the place quieter.

For one of the places near me:

  1. Relevel and recover the tables.
  2. Have leagues to help bring some people back.
  3. Relevel and recover the tables.
  4. Getting the stains out of the carpet wouldn't hurt.
  5. Relevel and recover the tables
  6. Have a weekly tournament that doesn't conflict with another in the area so you can work together.
  7. Relevel and recover the tables
  8. If you have a menu, make sure you have someone that knows how to cook the food.
  9. Relevel and recover the tables
  10. maintain the equipment.

Did I mention relevel and recover the damn tables?? LOL

Same for us. I would be more specific.. relevel and recover the table with Simonis 860 cloth.. and also, replace all rails .. also, get a person in that knows how to work on pool tables. The company that works on them is terrible.

We have our tables recovered every couple months or less if there's a lot of play on them... I would suggest kicking out anyone under the age of 19. Nothing worse than being surrounded by a bunch of kids banging balls around and dodging the cue ball every 5 mins.

Here is what I would like my local room owner to do in 2008:

1. Carpet the area where the pool tables are so as not to be put off by 12 year old muppets dropping cues, it constantly wrecks my concentration.

2. recover the tables more than once every 2 years (no joke!)

3. relevel all 13 pool tables cos none run straight

4. add more pool tables to the downstairs section of the club where the snooker tables are because for the last 2 days I have had to wait 2 hours for a table, plus pool is their biggest money maker.

5. change the decor and get the crap off the walls it looks like walt disney threw up on them.

Turn down the music

Tap Tap Tap!

I experienced this just yesterday! Ugh. Went to practice and after about 2 hours, some guy comes in and sits at the bar and then starts to play the jukebox. The music is playing so loud - I can't hear the music through my ipod! OMG - I couldn't believe it. And, it's like early afternoon and hardly anyone in there - you'd think the bartender would figure that out on her own... I wasn't gonna be there much longer and turned up my ipod instead of saying something.

Both Arizona, and Califronia have done away with Smoking. Nither State has gone out of business. Smoker just go outside to puff, and puff.

Yeah, it's really nice! Much better pool environment for everyone to play in.

Even some of the staunch smokers who resisted mightily have now come around and reluctantly admit that it is better.

No LOUD music! Volume is usually just a couple of decibels too high.

Get rid of the hard rap, the hard punk, heavy metal, and the hard rock! Oh and most, if not all of the country music too!

Then all that'd be left is the good music that people can actually listen to and enjoy.

I personally expect to see some type of petition drive next year (08) to recall, or modify the NON Smoking Law.

I'd like to see more room between the tables at my PH. Apart from that, no real complaints.

Oh wait, sell one of their old tables to me for a ridiculously low price. You know, like "Congrats! You just won a free table!"

I can only dream.......
