I hate to admit my igorance...but there it is. Here, people play 8 ball & 9 ball...and a bit of "straight pool". I don't have a clue about 10 ball. Could somebody please explain the basics???

Well i guess i am the one to answer your question??want take long. you say you play 9 ball?? well just add another ball!!! use the same rules as 9 ball .

It's the same as 9ball with ten balls. Rack 1-10 in a triangle, one in front and ten in the middle. All the rules of 9ball apply except the ten is now the game ball.

Yep, they are adding one ball at a time until they go full circle to all 15 balls once again and call it straight pool. ( I wish) :)

10-Ball solves the defficiancies (sp) of the 9-ball rack. The extra ball eliminates the wired wing balls from a perfect rack of 9-ball, and rewards the player that has a controlled powerful break.

In the florida tour, the players must break from the box,and in both, the Predator WOrld 10-ball Championships, and the FLorida tour, the 2 ball and 3 ball must be racked on the back corners of the rack with (of course) the 1 ball up front and the 10 ball in the middle.

The rest of the rules are the same as 9-ball. 10-ball is the future of competitive rotation pool.

LOL...I see your point. But thanks to all for explaining the game to this backwater of pool dweller...:)

isn't one difference though, that making the 10 on the break is NOT a win? it gets respotted
