What's a good player cue for $500-$800

I'm looking to spend $500-800 on a cue. Any suggestions?

ok so I've done some research and these are the qualification I would like in the cue I'm looking to buy.

Wood to Wood ( I've been playing w a ss joint and want a softer hit)
3/8 11 or 10 pin
Irish L wrap
med/small butt (like a typical schon)
balance close to 19
simple-no ivory, points ect.

If that is what you are looking for...I would definitely check out BCM then (Bryan Mordt)... http://bcmcue.com/ currently right in your price range..but I don't know for how much longer.

He makes his own 3/8 pins. (shown on his website)

All hits are subjective of course...but IMO...His cues hot top tier.....and his workmanship is also top tier.....Scroll down and keep hitting older entries link and you will see a regionally top rated player that uses his cue.

go to Stix in rancho cucamunga and ask Alex the owner if he has any JUDD's
They sell for around 750, I love mine.

on the cue builders section of this forum you will find a number of spiffie cue builders. some have long waiting list while others do not.
the guy i push like crack in the getto is Dickie of RHN cues. but if you go through the cue review section you will see a multitude of cue porn.
500 to 800 bones buys a whole lot of cue from some guys:thumbup:

BCM is also my recommendation...

I have been playing fairly high level pool for the last 35 years, and have used a few different custom cues during that time....2 years ago I acquired a BCM cue and have been using it exclusively ever since - it is built extremely well, looks great, and plays perfect.

Thanks for all the info.

I've hit with several cues since my og post. Mcdaniel, Judd, Dp, Nitti, Mezz, Schon, Pechauer,Titleist Conversion, and Ariel Carmeli. The "Ariel Carmeli" had the sweetest hit of all IMHO. I feel a ball better just knowing it's in my case. With any luck that feeling will translate to the felt when the cash is posted. Thanks again everyone.
