What's an APA LO make?

I know, it's usually tacky to ask what people make (I dunno why... nothing to be ashamed of if you're paying the bills).

The reason I ask is that one of the regulars in our newly-formed division often complains about the percentage of money that goes back to the players (vs VNEA, the dominant league in the area). She's convinced that the math shows that the profit margins are too big.

While I can't find the fault in her math, my experience has been that if a job looks like easy money, it usually isn't. I can't believe running a pool league is gonna make anyone rich.

I know we have at least one or two LO's out there. Any input?
 
I very much doubt any of them will be able to answer this in public. I'd have to believe the APA, BCAPL, VNEA, all have rules about divulging this info, as it could cause friction amongst the players, and some might quit their league if they were borderline dissatisfied..

I'm sure an 'established area' makes the LO 6 figures. There are just to many headaches to think they would work for anything less.

I would believe that the LO's money really lies in what the area will sell for once it is established. For instance Rob & Mary are my LO's in the Joliet league. I couldn't see them selling for anything less then 7 figures.
 
I know the LO in our area is pretty much set up. Enough so that he has turned down a million plus offer for it.

as for the flack they receive; it is usually self inflicted and well deserved.

Holy crap, I was thinking along the lines of something like...

"haha, she thinks they're making like 60k a year but I bet it's more like 30"

and y'all are saying 6, 7 figures. That's a lot (to me). What kind of headaches do they have to go through to make it worth 6 figures? That's a pretty comfortable living and as far as I can tell the job is a mix of travelling a lot, organizing, making phone calls, and some data entry, plus sort of being a salesman and peacekeeper.

I can see Mr. Chewning's point about them not being able to disclose it, so maybe one could just tell me generally what their typical day consists of.
 
I was an APA L.O. for nearly 4 yrs. My league area included 30,000 sq. MILES, in SW Montana, W. WY, and E. Idaho. I had five league areas, and 4 out of 5 were done through the mail. The last one was in the town I lived in (Bozeman), and I went around in person. The other league areas were lucky to see me once a month. As I detailed before...an L.O. would have to have between 100-200 teams to be making a decent living. The L.O.'s with 400+ teams are the ones making the big bucks ($150K-$200K)...but they work for it too! The job of being an L.O. is fun, but you have to be part babysitter, part promoter, part cheerleader, part mediator...and still keep your sanity.
