What's in Cookeville, Tennessee???

A friend of mine will be making a road trip soon for some pool action in Cookeville, Tennessee. I'm thinking of tagging along for the ride.

Are there any AZB'ers in the area? I'm always looking for someone to play.

What kind of facilities are there in Cookeville (and where the hell is it anyway)? Where does the action occur; any nice places to stay or eat?

I just moved from Cookeville back to Chattanooga. The only action room in town is The Cue. Bobby Pickle runs the place, and he and his stakehorse Jerry will play almost anyone who walks through the door. Ron Wiseman and Claude Marrier were at a tournament in Knoxville yesterday, and both said they were headed back to Cookeville for action. There is a road called Interstate Drive near I-40 where all of the eating joints are. There's everthing from home cooking to Red Lobster on that road. All the hotels are right in that area as well.

It's located in middle Tennessee between Nashville and Knoxville on I-40.

Good luck on the trip. Tell everyone I said hello.

WB,

PM Kevin S here on the forum. He lives about 30 miles away in Crossville but is in Cookeville often. He can answer any question you may have or might be a good candidate to hit a few balls around for fun.

Hi,

We met briefly at DCC. I'm the guy who sponsored Alli and Kim for the tournament and the straight pool shoot out.

I live in Nashville. PM me for my phone #. Bobby is my close friend and I always know when there is any serious action there. So if your trip time is flexible, I can let you know when to come...although as you know, "no shows" happen from time to time.

But there is almost always small action there with some nice people.

It's a small place with maybe a dozen Diamond bar boxes and 3 Diamond 9 ft. tables all kept in excellent condition. Generally very nice people and with Bobby there, you would have ZERO trouble.

And if you PM me your APA or equivalent speed, I will be sure you get matched up fairly. I would enjoy playing some with ya if my schedule allows.

Regards,
Jim

I'm about 45 min. from Cookeville. I would be happy to meet up and play some with you. I just need a few days notice so I can make sure I have a free day or night.

MikeT,
Thanks for the info and congratulations on your performance in the Viking event. Way to go.

Do you have any "not to be missed", favorite restaurants there? It seems like everyone has their favorites; and I've found it a good policy to eat where the locals prefer (after all, they've done all the hard work of experimentation).

'Bone,
I'll try to send you a PM when I know the date; if possible. It will probably be this month; but I'm not sure how much warning I'll have - it may be very short notice.

If you like Italian, there's a little place called Mama Rosa's. Don't miss eating there at least once. It is by far my favorite place in town. It's close to town on Washington (near K-Mart). Other than that, I'd say Red Lobster on Interstate Drive or 13th Street Cafe if you like a meat and vegetables place.
