no sorry, it was coined by FtGokie, Shawn, many years ago :-》
I own 8 JB Cases right now, and i've 3 more being made as i write..ppssssstt John if you're reading this you know you shouldn't be reading and working!
My 4x8 Butterfly case is the case that's clocks the most mileage by far and literally so that's why i feel it's most apt to have this case represent. I travel around the world with this case and working in China i shuttle between Singapore and China with this case. Whenever i travel around China for work i bring this case around so that i can bring some cues around to show friends in different cities. In the 3 years that i've own this case i dare say it's clocked no less than 50,000km.
This is the most comfortable case for me to carry around even when it's fully loaded due to it's padded shoulder pad and it's got large compartments for my travelling needs.
I've loaded this case up to mimic how i'd typically travel with it and it really is how i travel, nothing made up to look good albeit i travel with different cues all the time as i ask friends what are the cues they'd like to check out and i change them out.
So in the picture you'll see that the top pocket is for my Westone Earphones(one of the best earphones i've used for travelling, i've destroyed quite a few earphones..) and my Passport Holder with passport and frequent flyer cards in there, i'll fold my boarding pass and stuff it in there too.
And yes i am allowed to bring this case onboard the aircraft, tried and tested for all domestic flights in China, Singapore, Thailand, Hong Kong and Malaysia.
And for the lower compartment it's for my Portable Battery (for charging my iPhone and iPad which i'd hand carry) and other misc pool stuff.
Inside my case you'll notice i stuffed a cardboard on the side wrapping around the insides. It's actually a Invisible Rack and a Paste on Invisible Rack in there. And finally of course there's the cues.
So here are the pictures:

Do you mean you are allowed to take your case on with you as carry-on luggage? That's only for non-international flights, right?
I travel a lot for work as well, to the US, Thailand, Hong Kong, etc. and I've been forced to check my cue case in every time. Sometimes they'll say it's okay at the check-in counter, but I have never gotten my cues through customs, and it's always a hassle so I don't even bother to ask anymore.
Thank you, John. Just a question, the case that Jive posted, would that be safe to check in as luggage or do you recommend a hard case for that?
this is awesome. I am always concerned about traveling. I just have a black zip up bag I put my case in.I personally would not check in that case by itself IF I had a choice. The main reason is that it doesn't protect against outside pressure. I would definitely try to put some sort of hard shell around the cues.
Now I have in the past checked Butterfly cases, once two 16x32 Instroke butterfly cases that held collectively $40,000 worth of cues inside them.
We were bumped in Amsterdam and watched in horror as both cases were tossed out of the plane and BOUNCED down the conveyer belt finally tumbling off onto the tarmac. We were freaking out and tried in vain to get access to our cases. As it turned out they were sent ahead of us and when we got to Las Vegas they were sitting there unattended with a pile of luggage. We opened them and all the cues were there and intact.
I am now making butterfly cases with two plastic boards that can be inserted to surround the cues. This provides more protection from impact and pressure by distributing the force. I suspect that this will catch on as the cues would be fairly well protected during travel and then with the boards out lighter to carry around at the event.

Hard to see since everything is red but the curved boards are simply two halves of a 4x8 tube. They are easy to remove.

Jive, is that a JB Cases wallet?
Now that I've had my JB case for a bit and it's all loaded up, I figure I'll post it.

It's in a few different configurations here. I can mix, match, and move pockets wherever I want which is what makes this case awesome.
You can make out what I've got in the case in the first picture. My playing and break sticks are both by Eddie Cohen. I've also got an old McDermott in there in case anyone on my team shows up without their's. I also keep tums for heartburn and a flashlight for fishing stuck balls out of Diamond tables.
Oh, and I play around Orange County, CA. Mostly Bart's Pub, Danny K's, and Campus Billiards. I'm at Hard Times in Bellflower now and then too.
Thanks. I'm diggin' it so far.Cool Case.![]()
