I am not counting on the IPT as the future of Pro-POOL. Now, whats Next? Are we back to the days of the UPA? Oh, where is the UPA? Did they fold up shop? They have been very silent for a long time! Plus, the US Open problems indicate they could not help much.
I really think we must look with in for answers to this questions. With that said, I would love to have anyone that owns a business post the name of the business, Type of work & location. That way, pool players can support pool player owned businesses and those that support the sport. I know if someone in my area owned a heating and cooling company I would give them a call before someone else!!! We could call it the "AZB yellowpages"
Maybe Mr. WIlson or someone at AZB can work on a bullettin board or something to facilitate business between members.
Once this is set up, if we have any ceo's, board of directors or High level executives on here it would be nice to know who they are and maybe set up something regarding sponsorship of one or two events like an AZB championship. The lack of NETWORKING in pool is aweful!! This topic is one that NEEDS to be addressed. The insiders or executives are necessary to gain access to the decision makers inside the company. We need this type of effort internationally.
I really think Allen Hopkins is the MAN for the job given his alliance with ESPN and his success. We really need to help him network and shop for sponsors for his enterprise. We may not personally benefit from it but the sport would be so much better off from it. If someone from ESPN like the writer for the KID DElicious story could step up or Ewa's husband may be able to get the moons to align just right and pull something off for Pro Pool.
We need to build on what we have and the IPT scrapped everything and went in a totally destructive direction versus building on what already existed.
The Pro-Pool product has been suspect to say the least. Prior to the IPT no one gambled 8 ball because it was boring and too easy. given, the option to shot any ball of course! So, why ignore the fact that the pros and hustlers never gambled the game and found it lacking????
The answer to this one is self explanatory and Mike Sigel is all I have to say!
Lets move on to ring 10 ball, 9 ball or rotation. The Skins game is excitng just not what I would have done. The ratings on ring 9 ball on BCN were the best of any for Grady's Ring game. A whole tournament like that would be awesome and getting down to a final table would be awesome and exciting.
Just some food for thought. So, lets get to NETWORKING and make somethings happen. I am sure Allen Hopkins could and would love any sponsor ship assistance he could get in exchange for TV exposure on his ESPN produced events.
